Default Has anyone heard of or tried the HCG diet??

I have been looking into the HCG diet plan. It is being offered through a nutritionist where I live. There are many people that I know that have been successful with it. Has anyone here tried it??

Cool Isn't much help but....

I actually just received mine and took my first injection not more then an hour ago. So, these first two days will be loading days, and then I am on to the VLCD portion of it. If you would like an update a week down the road so that maybe that can help you base you decision off of it, I would be glad to help in whatever way I can.

I was wondering how much do you have to lose? Are you taking any other meds to control your PCOS?? I am on glucophage and I am wondering if I will be able to continue with the low calorie diet. The HCG diet that I am going to follow does the drops, not injections. Please keep me posted on your success.

A girl I work withs sister is on it and has lost 75lbs!! She orders her HCG online from the UK though. Sounds great but I was wondering if it has any effect on women TTC. I would love to know more about it though so if you find any info please share!

I have my appointment on Monday at 10:30 am. She told me that she has worked with a lot of women with PCOS. My OB recommended the diet, so we will see.

I have about 74 pounds to lose (5'2" at 194, want to get to the weight I was in the Army which was 120). I've been on Metformin since Jan, but I am going to test out what happens if I don't take while on the VLCD portion of this. I was going to take the drops too at first, until I started reading on how long to leave it under your tongue, and take it 2-3 times a day, and I am a baby when it comes to stuff that tastes gross. So, I decided not to risk it, and I made myself suck it up and do the injections. But I have heard wonderful, wonderful things about the drops!!! So, I am not dissing on them

I am about 228 and I am 5 ft 4. I would love to get to 150. My husband is currently in Afghanistan and he won't be home until early December. I would love to surprise him. Do you have an example of what you eat in a typical day?

I bet that you can do it by Sept in order to surprise your hubby!!!

Now what I eat in a typical day right now... hehehehe.....

Breakfast: None ( I can not eat when I first get up)
Lunch: Something like a hot pocket or some other microwave crap
Snacks: Cookies, Candy.... more crap. Sometime I do eat fruit or celery. But lately I've been really stressed so it's been bad bad eating.
Dinner: Huge plate of meat (beef, chicken) with mashed pot, stuffing, veggies
Snacks: More cookies, and candy... So it really is no wonder that I put on so much weight... Going from this to the VLCD for HCG is going to be quite a change:

Breakfast: Herbal tea or black coffee and 1 TBSP Milk ( I think a little Stevia is allowed). LOTS OF WATER!!!

Lunch: 100g of chicken, fish, (or beef on occasion), handful of veggies that are on the approved list (celery, cucumber, tomatoes) and either an apple, orange, strawberries, or 1/2 grapefruit. LOTS OF WATER!!!

Dinner: Same as dinner (although I think that they want you to eat a different protein and veggie). LOTS OF WATER!!!

You can save your fruits from lunch to have as a snack too. And you can't use any butter, oil or dressings to cook. Lots of stuff to do!! And to stay under 500 calories. So it's a big change. Friday will be my first low-calorie day (after my two day loading), so we shall see.

You can't use HCG while ttc, it messes up your cycles. It's basically the pregnancy hormone which is also used to trigger ovulation (but only in a one off shot). I think the hcg diet would suppress ovulation. Not 100% sure, but I do know you can't do it while ttc.

Thank you so much for the info- It seems a litte dangerous to try when TTC so I would rather just not risk it.

I tried my first round of the hCG diet back in July and loved it!! I lost 17 lbs in the 23 day cycle that I did. I have another round that I am going to be starting next week, hoping to lose another 20 lbs. You HAVE to be very dedicated as it is very precise on what you can and cannot have. I will say that I was oddly surprised that I did not feel like I was starving to death and was quite impressed with myself for not cheating.
It was supposed to be a 40 day cycle but I cut it back to 23 (have to do at least 23 days minimum) because I was going to Vegas and didnt want to have to worry about keeping the meds fridgerated. I did not follow the Phase 3 as much as I would have liked but since I knew that I was going to be starting another round of the Phase 2 I am not so hard on myself about it especially since I have not gained back any of the weight lost. I originally went thru a clinic where I live and it was quite pricey so next time when I need the meds I plan on ordering them online.

Feel free to PM me with any questions!

I have had really good results with the HCG diet. I am now down 75 pounds and it took me 14 weeks and I feel great. You have to be careful when ordering this online you need to get it from a good US company/pharmacy, being a human hormone it could have bacteria if not purchased from a good company. Me and my sister got ours from HCG Buy Direct very nice people good prices and shipped right to my door. their hcg drops worked better than others I've seen with people at work. they are online at hcgbuydirect.com or call and talk to the lady there she is very helpful 877-327-4211. I'm so glad I found them and I feel so great!

Okay so i did hcg a couple months back. Here is what I can tell you:

- the diet DOES work. the morning after my very first VLCD day, I was down almost 6 lbs. Within 2 wks, I was down almost 20 lbs. I took my hcg sublingual (under the tongue) and I mixed it myself with B12 and colloidal silver

- you need to have extreme will power and determination. This has nothing to do with the 500 calorie a day diet. to be honest, if you're taking the hcg correctly, you will really not feel hunger at all and some days it might actually be hard to even get a full 500 cal's in. so its not the small amount of calories you should be worried about. the biggest obstacle is the limited and strict type/amount of food you can eat. as it was mentioned by one of the posters, HCG protocol has very strict rules about what you can eat, when you can eat, and how much you can eat. I mean there are rules going as far as wearing only oil free make up and not even touching oily substances. I think that when people say you should read "pounds and inches" its not something they have just been trained to say or feel like they should tell you - I had a much more clear understanding of what I needed to do and how this worked after reading that. You can find it online.

- you have to be mentally prepared for certain situations because you have PCOS. For example, one of my most frustrating PCOS symptoms is hair loss. I was extremely frightened that once I started HCG, my hair loss would get worse. However, it was amazing how great my hair got when i was on HCG. The shedding came to a stall and I actually had new growth. I was actually thinking this is some kind of miracle...I was more excited about my hair loss problems going away than I was about actually losing the weight - HOWEVER...a couple of weeks after stopping the HCG, my hair loss was not just back...it was HORRIFIC. I was shedding like crazy...not only did all that new growth fall out, but it was like my body was making up for all that time it hadn't shed. I was sooo freaked and depressed. When I started my 2nd round (which I'm on now) of HCG, the shedding stopped again. I am now taking vitamins with this round as well as trying this $200 shampoo in hopes that once I stop this round the hair loss won't come back the way it had. I have fingers crossed.

- You also have to keep in mind to get in TONS of water...I realized that on days I drank more water, I lost more.

- Most important, DO YOUR RESEARCH. I literally did research for 3 months before I actually took any initiative with this diet. I can honestly say, that because I was so well informed, when speed bumps did come along the way, I was able to deal with them and change gears. So know your stuff.

If you need guidance, advice, have questions or comments...PM me and I can be more specific. Good luck!
