Question Has anyone on induction therapy had ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome?

Has anyone on induction therapy had Ovarian Hyperstimulation Syndrome?

I had high estrogen levels and they cancelled my cycle this month because of it. I just was on the internet and high estrogen is an indication of OHSS.
From what I read I am a little worried so I am hoping someone can tell me something about it. Something positive. Because I am freaking out right now. Please tell me that it’s not a big deal. I'm being a right???

I had that happen to me a couple moths back I took Clomid 100mg a day and it caused hyperstimulation on both ovaries especially my right ovary it enlarged up to 7cm! It was very uncomfortable & painful my doctor explained it is rare to get that side effect he said it would be best to just let it go back to normal on its own It took about a month for that effect to go away and to get back to normal.

I had ohss (thanks to follistim) in July. I wont lie and say it doesnt hurt, cause it does. I had a lot of abdominal pain and bloating- it was very uncomfortable. My ovaries felt like they were gonna burst. Anyway heres some things you can do just in case...drink lots of water and gatorade and try to rest as much as possible. Also watch for changes in weight and urine output. Talk to your dr about any changes. HTH

I ended up in the hospital. I was on gonal f and my stomach had swelled so badly it looked like I was 5 months pregnant. For some reason my body started to retain fluid as well. It was painful for me to even walk.

Where any of you BD'ing while you had the OHSS?
I told them at the fertility clinic that it hurt when we BD'd and days after I went in again saying that it really hurt but they told me that, that was normal...don't worry.
Then they tell me my estrogen was high, and they had told me that I had 12 follices on my right ovary, so I am afarid that it's OHSS. We can't afford IVF so I am very concerned.
I don't see my OBGYN until the 28th. The doctors at the clinic won't tell me anything.
It still hurts. They took me off this months cycle. I am worried.
Will it come back next time?

No i was told no bding while I had symptoms (like 2 weeks). And Im sure it would hurt if u had ohss and were bding because like I said your ovaries are huge at that time. What were you taking...clomid,gonal,follistim? I know with me, I overstimulated with follistim and we took a month off to let ovaries and cysts heal up and then we just started a new cycle. You shouldnt have to go to ivf they can just lower your dosage of whatever drug your taking the next time. Not everyone overstims every time, but if they lower your dosage and check you often you should be okay. My dr says the shorter the cycle the better off I am, and usually we pcos'ers get ohss on the first round of a new drug ( which was my case-first month on follistim I overstimulated)
Dont give up hope... just rest and drink lots of fluids and be on the look out for other things (weight etc) and I def. would not suggest bding for a lil while.

Hi Mandi,
Thanks for your response. It was my second round of Clomid 50mg and Ovidrel ??mg. This one would have been my third. They didn't mention OHSS and both cycles I had pain but the second was worse. They said that the pain could be from anything.
I hope things work out next month. I wouldn't mind a summer baby.
Third time is the charm, right?
2 weeks left until I see my OBGYN.
Chanti

Chanti- Well I wish you luck, they do say 3rd times a charm and hopefully it is. I also wanted to tell you that symtoms of ohss will be far worse if you fall pregnant- so if the next time around you have pain and it continues to worsen- you may be pregnant . Best wishes and babydust to you
