I was wondering if anyone here has taken or takes Chromium Picolinate ??
I was thinking of taking this vitamin and would like some advice about it please ??
I'm not sure if this is the same, but when I was looking at diet pills they said that chromium was a very iffy thing to take if you're diabetic, which always makes me cautious because of insulin resistance. If you're IR I'd check with someone, first.
Sarah, I just wanted to say search this forum. There is information on other people using it. Everyone's experience is different. There is also Chromium GTF that you could use/try instead.
My own experience I have used Chromium Picolinate and Chromium GTF. I will be honest and say I can't fully remember which did what.. but I know neither of them bothered me. But all of us react differently.
Thanks for your reply silverfairy I have been taking them for a bit now and I havent had any side effects, so I think that I will be ok, but lets see if I feel or find any difference in about a months time.
Everyone reacts differently to each supplement/herb, if you are really serious you can always try a low dosage to see if it will help your insulin levels and ward off Type 2 Diabetes. I believe it has helped me tremendously.

Yes Ive been taking it for over a month now, since my new gyno prescribed it for me. He said it shud be taken for IR, besides adding more cinnamon to my diet and ofcourse, the famous metformin. I haven't felt any side effects, and i still can't tell if it made any difference. I personally think that chromium is like any other mineral, beneficial for the body along with magnesium, calcium, potassium and zinc.

"Chromium is an essential trace mineral that is needed for insulin activity in carbohydrate, fat and protein metabolism. Optimal levels may reduce insulin resistance, improve blood sugar control, and may help to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes. Supplementation may also help to reduce triglycerides and total cholesterol while improving HDL "good" cholesterol.
A chromium insufficiency may result in insulin resistance. Animal experiments have shown that a chromium deficiency results in insulin resistance, and that its supplementation reduces their insulin resistance.
In humans, there also seems to be an association between insulin resistance and chromium status. Evidence also suggests that individuals consuming diets with the lowest amounts of chromium tend to have disruptions in glucose and insulin regulation."
