Red face has anyone taken d-chiro inositol?

I have been trying to get it but I don't know where, and has it worked for anyone else? I have tried metformin with no luck,as well as gonal f,clomid and met, BC pills, Vitex, progesterone, etc. I am desperate! I have been trying to get pregnant since I was 19.(married young)

I've tried Vitex....BFN.

I can not find d-chiro inositol either....GNC doesn't have them and neither does Vitamin world....

Just finished my first 50mg of Clomid, I guess that's a cycle? Not sure, but it didn't work either....

BCP, been there done that....

Next we are going to Provera (to bring AF), then Met and Clomid.....who knew getting preg. would be this much work...

I'm on DCI! I think it's a miracle, after 3 months on it we got a bfp! I get it from www.chiralbalance.com in Texas, USA. Expensive, I guess, but compared to IVF or injectibles? PShyyah. I had done Letrozole, Clomid, no luck. Actually I had been bleeding every 2 weeks for almost 2 years before the DCI. DCI stopped that nonsense the second month (and first month it was 3 week cycle). I had tried metformin before and it didn't work plus made me miserable to the nth degree (more acne, more hairloss, more fat that didn't stop gaining even after I quit it). Never tried Avandia or Byetta.

I don't do bcp anymore, but the DCI did clear up my skin (except before AF) and levelled off my weight gain since the nasty met.

I was on Prometrium after ovulation to try & help implantation. But I'd tried Prometrium alone before and it did nothing to help stop bleeding, so I don't think it was the Prometrium that straightened me out.

I don't have cycles at all, do you think that chiral balance would be effective for me?

Well, I wasn't cycling per say either, with AF every 2 weeks, and it helped me out. Have you ever tried any of the insulin-type meds, met, Avandia, etc?

I am currently on Met with no problems. Can I also take DCI with the Met?

I am glad there is finally a source for DCI. I tried to find it for a long time with no luck. I've read a lot of good things about it.

I don't know, savoy. I can't take met at all, so I don't know if they can be taken together. Are you on met for PCOS or type 2 diabetic?

I too would like to know if it is okay to take DCI with metformin. I have ordered it, but have refrained from taking it because I was unsure if it was contraindicated with the use of metformin. Also, I noticed on the bottle that the recommended dosage is 600 mg per day, but in the clinical trials, the dosage for obese patients was 1200mg. I am unsure of how I should proceed. Any suggestions?

For those of you who have taken the DCI, did it taste sweet to you? It almost tastes like candy.

Don't know about bcp & the DCI, but many endos either don't even know about it (shoot, half don't even recommend metformin and they know NOTHING about hair loss), or don't believe that it or any other herb really works. I mean, if we found a treatment that actually worked, they wouldn't be getting their $30,000 for IVF! My old RE looked down on me when I wanted to try herbs/etc and didn't rush immediatley to surgery & IVF that is typically not covered in the USA anyway.

For us, we really didn't have anything to lose. Few hundred bucks, but shoot you can blow that in one single shot of the injectible gonadotropins over here. Neither has any guarantee.

guineapig: I know this post is from a while ago, but I just found it after researching DCI. I was just wondering if you took the DCI throughout your PG and if you know if it has the same effect on reducing the miscarriage rate that metformin has?

Thanks!

I did take it the entire time during pg. I don't know if it has the same miscarriage-reducing as glucophage, but I had hoped so, and that's why I took it. I did not get gestational diabetes, either. DD was IUGR, but I have no idea if it was related to DCI--I seriously doubt it, as she quit growing around 32 weeks and I had taken DCI the whole time. More likely the sorry placenta wasn't making enough progesterone or something. And I was extremely sick the first two trimesters (got down to pre-PCOS weight while like 4 months pg! 120# bad thing!), so she may not have gotten enough nutrition then.

In theory, DCI is excreted extra-fast by our kidneys for us PCOS gals, and that's why we're deficient and need it to help our insulin. (clinicaltrials.gov is recruiting for a study to prove this if you just wanna read, put inositol and pcos words both in the search box and it'll bring up the study)
so I can't really imagine it would hurt us during pg--normal women would have a normal concentration in their blood, which doesn't hurt baby.

I would do it again and take the dci again the whole time again. I did quit taking it while bf, because I didn't feel like I needed it, she was already born & alive, and the effects to baby are just not as known as the met.

Plan to take it again after weaning. HTH! pm if you wish.
