According to Wikipedia the chemical valence and composition of D-Chiro Inositol are the same (C6H12O6)... I am no chemist but I wonder if this Chiral guy has the market on D-Chiro because there is no difference between that and the plain Inositol you can get commonly for pretty cheap at supplement stores?! Forgive me for being a skeptic! But if the composition of the chemical itself is the same... what is the "D-Chiro" advantage? I want to try this stuff but am unwilling to pay hundreds of dollars a month for it.

There does seem to be a difference between d-chiro inositol and inositol. The composition is the same but the chemical structures are slightly different.
hi i was wondering how u took dci cuase i read it was 20 mg a day but i went to the link where u got the dci and the capsules are 600mg so i wasnt sure how u did it or if u did it a diferent way
I have also been on met for years with no luck. I just recently starting taking d-chiro-inistol. I took both the inistol and the met together and have been fine. I took 1200 mg daily because that was what they used in the study. I got my d-chiro-inistol from chiral balance also-it was the only source I could find that sold it. This month I took the met, inistol, clomid and an hcg injection. I am now four days late for my monthly. I take a blood test tommorow at the dr. office. All urine tests have been neg. The d-chiro-inistol is expensive, but if it works and I am pregnant, it is priceless. I have been trying with no luck for over 4 yrs.

Wow, you took chiro inositol, met, clomid and an hcg injection ?
Well if that doesn't do it I dont know what will !
I don't see how DCI would be a problem to take with met because technically DCI is just a b vitamin that our bodies are supposed to make on their own. And ironically met inhibits the absorption of some b vitamins.
I have been taking DCI for about 6 weeks now before i started i was on metformin and it didnt do anything but make me gain more weight. but the Dci has changed my system completly my periods are normal my harmon levels are normal for the first time in 34 years my body hair has slowed down and is almost gone my ovulation is right on schedule with my period and it has even made my tummy start to disappear . my doctor said the DCI is completly from the Vitamin B family so their isnt a problem with interaction with meds.
1200 mg or 2 pills a day is the standard dose used in the study everyone references from 1999 and it took 3 months for effect. A follow up study in 2001 used 600 mg for a month and did not see the same results. Gee, wonder why??? Keep in mind that you are probably compensating for a deficiency of DCI.
Hi, I'm new to this board and am thinking of trying this D-chiro-inositol in lieu of the metformin my RE keeps pushing me to take. I'm really wary of the Met side-effects, especially the hair loss. My hair had been thinning and it is finally coming back in and I really don't want to take a step back with this. My RE swears Met doesn't cause hair loss but I can't help but feel that there isn't some truth in all of these posts that say it does. What I'm hoping is that this DCI regulates my non-existent periods and ovulation. I have had one period since going off the pill in Oct and it likely was Provera induced - it started before completing the 10 day course so I'm not sure...any one have a similar story and success with the DCI? Can anyone reassure me that met isn't going to make my hair fall out? I'm currently taking vitex, macafem, and a slew of other vitamins/supplements. Also doing acupuncture.
Hi Otisol! please, PLEASE try DCI before you try met. Take between 600-1200 mg of DCI a day and in at least three weeks will see a huge difference! I have been taking 1200 mg DCI daily for several months and i'm a changed person! I'm the person that I should have been if I didn't have PCOS. The first most notable changes I had were weight loss, and no more mood swings and I was suddenly so happy all of the time! Also my head hair stopped falling out and my body hair turned softer, lighter or disappeared. My head hair is now so thick and glossy! After a couple of months I started having a normal menstrual cycle. Also, my skin has cleared up and looks awesome! there are absolutely no bad symptoms of DCI and I can say this because DCI is just a b vitamin. I hope you take my advice and I wish you luck!
Thanks so much for your reply. I am going to order the d-chiro inositol from chiral balance today. Is that where you got yours? Just curious...I'm really hoping this stuff works.
I just got my dci and was wondering if this should be taken w/ meals or on an empty stomach. No instructions on the bottle from Chiral Balance or on their website. Anyone know? Tried calling them but got a machine. Didn't leave a message. That and the very plain bottle these pills came in don't exactly thrill me but if this works, then, all will be forgiven!
Hi Otisol! Yes, I got my DCI from Chiral Balance. I ordered them before from Discover Nutrition, but then they "ran out" and were going to make me wait a month for them. From Chiral Balance I ordered the 60 capsules of 600mg. About the eating with food or empty stomach I'm not sure. I just googled it right now and I read that most vitamins are better absorbed with food, however some vitamins like B12 are better on an empty stomach. I wouldn't worry about it though because I have had amazing results and usually I take it with breakfast but sometimes I don't have time to eat. I'm wishing you the best of luck, and you should let me know if you see any improvements!
