Hi Ashley,

Thanks for your response. I emailed the folks at chiral and they said it didn't matter if it was taken with or without food. They just stressed that it should be taken at the same time each day. So the experiment has now officially begun. Fingers are crossed. I will keep you posted.

Best,
Rose

Hi acohrt,

So I've been taking this DCI since 2/27 - almost a month. I'm running low on pills and wondering if I should re-order. So far, no real improvements to speak of...Infact, I've been ridiculously pms-like cranky and my face is breaking out. I have always had bad skin, but it has been under control and looking good for the past year so I'm kind of annoyed! Did it really take you 3 months for the full positive results?

Anyone else with results good or bad, please reply as well. I just feel like I'm wasting so much money and time on all of these natural remedies that have thus far been fruitless.

Thanks!
Otisol

Hi Otisol,

When I began taking 600 mg of DCI a day it took me about a month to start seeing changes in my body like redistribution of fat and less fat, and also less hair. But I still hadn't had my period. I just took 600mg a day for about three months. A little over a month ago I increased to 1200 mg a day of DCI and I started hardcore pmsing, my face was breaking out like crazy and my boobs were really sore. I wasn't really surprised when I started my period exactly one month after taking the 1200 mg daily. My guess is that you are breaking out and cranky because maybe you are starting to have a normal cycle. I would say that you should stick with it for at least a total of three months, and if you aren't happy then I would stop- because you're right, it's REALLY expensive!!! I really, really, REALLY hope you have awesome results and keep giving it a try, but maybe every person is just affected differently from it.

One more thing... believe me I know how much it sucks to have bad skin, and when it gets worse it's terrible! But having a bad breakout once a month for a normal menstrual cycle is more than worth it. I would definitely give up good skin if it meant keeping my reproductive system healthy for my own body, and healthy enough to have children. That's just my opinion though .

Hi Ashley,

Thanks for your response. So, oddly, 6 hours after I posted on Monday, AF came knocking hard for about a day and a half and then pretty much completely stopped. Not exactly the way it usually happens for me, but a positive sign nonetheless. Needless to say, I re-ordered another bottle of the magic little pills on Tuesday morning to see what happens next month. Just as an aside, I'm kind of on the cusp weight-wise between the 600 and 1200 mg per day so I started out alternating 1200 and 600 every other day and then just went to 1200 a day. I may try the alternating thing again and see how that works out b/c it would save some $. I'll post back next month with an update.

Does anybody have any idea if I can get d-chiro inositol shipped outside of N.America? I'm a Canadian currently living in Amsterdam, and I'm looking for alternative treatments for my PCOS and this seems really promising. But the only way I can see getting the d-chiro is ordering it to my parent's place in Canada and getting them to send it on to me, which seems inefficient. I've been stalled in the treatment of my PCOS since I've been travelling and living in different cities from my GP for so long.........

I have been taking 1200mg DCI for exactly three weeks now. I am on CD11, I took clomid CD5-CD9 (provera induced period). Today I noticed EWCM for the first time in years literally speaking. Does this mean I am about to ovulate? Is it not too early? I don't think the EWCM is due to clomid since it's only been two days since my last pill. I have also been taking robitussin. Up until now I didn't think the DCI was doing anything except giving me more energy and some breakouts but I just realized I may be ovulating because of it. I would like to hear from anyone on DCI and/or clomid. Good luck!

Wink Update

So I took DCI from 2/27 until 5/30. I got one period around 3/23 and then nothing...I was digusted and annoyed that I had wasted my money on more snake oil remedies. I figured the one period was a complete fluke and was resigned to start Glumetza (metformin) instead.

About a week into the Glu I started to really feel like crap - just tired, no energy, semi-naseous, semi-dizzy and just generally out of sorts. As a fluke I took a pregnancy test and wouldn't you know it was positive? I am now 8 weeks and counting. This was the last thing in the world I expected. At best I was just hoping to regulate my period and get the physical pcos symptoms under control.

So this DCI stuff most definitely worked for me because aside from a bunch of supplements you get at GNC, this was all I was really taking up until that point. It is expensive but I would definitely give it a shot. Without bcps or provera, Ididn't get a perios for more than 10 years. I took this DCI for 3 months, got one period and am now pregant. What are the odds?

As for the dosage, when I started, the website said 1200 if you are over 150 lbs, 600 if you are under. If you are around 150 alternate 2 pills one day, 1 pill the next. I am just under 150 and I took the 2 pills per day just for the heck of it. They have since changed the weight to 130lbs so I would imagine use the same formula stated above. Also, take it first thing in the AM on an empty stomach.

Over the 3 months i was taking this I emailed them several times and they were nothing but nice and responsive. I can't say even remotely the same about some of the doctors I have dealt with along the way.

Otisol,

Wow, that is truly exciting!! Congrats, it's so encouraging to hear that dci worked for you. Thanks for sharing your experience with dci. Are you going to continue taking it while pregnant?

Wishing you a beautiful and easy pregnancy!

Hi Nat,

No, I'm not going to continue the DCI during the pregancy. I had already gone off it a week before I found out and they say once you stop it is like starting over so...

I had started the Glumetza the day after I stopped DCI and the doc wants me to stay on that for now so that's what I'll do. I am hoping everything regulates itself after the pregnancy but if not, I will probably go back to the DCI. I really don't like the idea of metformin long-term if I am not diabetic. Plus, frankly, after 9 months I'm betting I'll really want the biggest, dirtiest martini on the planet and metformin and booze don't mix. Don't you just love the honesty?!

I'll continue to update as things progess. Right now I'm still sort of shocked and truly scared out of my mind about having a baby.

Otisol,

Just try to enjoy your pregnancy and you will have time to adjust to the idea of having a baby, it is a scary and wonderful thing...I have a 14 month old baby now and we are starting to try for #2 and my PCOS symptoms were at bay for the first 4 months or so postpartum. They started to slowly return even though I'm still breastfeeding, which is why I started DCI. Since it's a b vitamin the manufacteror told me it's safe for breatfeeding.

I got pregnant with baby #1 using vitex, saw palmetto, prog cream, inositol, clean organic veg, low sugar diet, and plenty of exercise and cleansing my body. But can't take some of the supplements I was on now...so I started the DCI.

I will say though that I no longer have any menstrual cramps which used to be debilitating for me! Everyone is different, but my preggo was easy. I felt amazing for most of it. I was really tired the 1st trimester, but otherwise my skin was it's best in years, less hirsutism, more lusturous head hair, and more energy after 1st trimester. I think all the preggo hormones really helped me a lot.

Hi Nat,

Thanks for the advice. I am going to try to "enjoy" the pregnancy but I'm scared out of my mind about so many things. And as far as the PCOS goes, the worset side effect I had from that was thinning hair. I'm so beyond worried that after I have the baby the shedding is going to start up again and be worse than it was in the beginning. I have to have a game plan set so I'm ready to take action and minimize the damage but I'd like to breast feed for as long as possible and that will limit what I can do. The DCI will probably get another shot but it didn't do anything for my hair when I was taking it. I guess, first things first. I have to get through the next nine months and then take it from there.

Thanks again for your advice.

congrats, I will be starting DCI really soon and I will keep you all posted. Also I wrote the Chiral Balance people to see if it is ok to take DCI with Femaprin. Do any of you all know about taking both for better hormonal balance

Hi SJ,

No idea if DCI is ok to take w. Femaprin. I'm not really even sure what Femaprin is. the Chiral folks are pretty good at answering questions, though. They should respond fairly quickly. Good luck!
