Hi SJ,

I'm not sure...The CB folks are pretty good with answering questions, though. They should get back to you with an answer.

Good luck!

There are a group of us over in the Alternative Remedy Area that are tracking and updating whats going on so far for us with DCI. We are all using a lot of different things but they are all in our sigs. Lots of good info there! Thread is D-Chiro-Inositol and WOW

My success so far:
Ive lost almost 23 pounds in 5 weeks - This is MAJOR progress for me
Energy levels are WAY up
hair shedding is decreasing
Havent O'd yet but I've only been on for 5 weeks but Im feeling stuff happening down there.
It seems to have reversed my progress towards Type 2 diabetes (numbers are improving)
I was on Met for years, seems to help a little but not as much as the D-Chiro.
Increased overall body temp from 96.5 to 98.0
Acne seems to be decreasing
Triglycerides are falling
Hormone levels seem to be normalizing (will be tracking this with my Dr.'s help)
Cut the cravings for sugars and carbs, also seems to cut my apatite so I'm not always thinking of food (this seems to have been a combination of different supplements that does this though - the apatite I mean)
BTW many of us have restricted carbs over there to improve our chances of success, it has been MUCH easier to do so with the DCI than ever before. Seems to support this dietary change.

DCI is not the same as the inosital you get in the stores. That is myo-inosital which is the precursor of DCI. One of the issues seems to be the transition from myo to d-chiro in the body. I think taking both is fine and have been reading that with choline it might support the myo to d-chiro change in the body.

I just wanted to say I am taking regular OTC inositol and I am having a lot of luck with it, in that my cycles seem more regular, blood sugar is controlled better, and my mood disorder symptoms are MUCH better.

I think it is very likely that regular myo-inositol (the sort you buy from the vitamin store) is 1) has a similar physiological effect as d-chiro-inositol *or* 2) is converted to d-chiro-inositol with efficiency.

myo-inositol affects serotonin positively so it is entirely possible that this has an indirect benefit on glucose tolerance (serotonin has a role in glucose metabolism, thereby reducing insulin levels).

Thumbs up D Chiro info

Hi.
I see this post is somewhat old and I am not sure if you have tried D chiro yet I thought I would offer up my experience. I have been in a way treating myself as a guinee pig by not overlapping meds or supplements so that I know specifically what each one is doing. I have PCOS AND high prolactin levels which doctors believe is correlated but do not have any hard data to say how.

The doctors want to lower the prolactin levels first and foremost and then treat for whatever I choose for the PCOS (acne, fertility, etc). Anyhow it will probably help to know symptoms I had - black hair, acne, no cycle since January 08, raised testosterone, lactation and no sex drive (which I believe is from the prolactin not PCOS). I am not overweight nor prediabetic.

I started taking D chiro insitol and with-in 4 weeks I had results with acne and the black hair on my stomach - both of which disapeared (thank god). My prolactin levels decreased oddly enough but testerone stayed the same. I also had an additional glucose test which showed different results than the previous one although for both I was in the normal range. I do believe it was very helpful but I felt I had to be on 6 weeks or more for it to impact my cycle. I also believe, had i had insulin resistance - it would have helped.
The clinical trials do show very positive results for women having their cycle and getting pregnant. I have been on it for almost 2 months now but have not had a cycle. I do feel that this is attributable to the prolactin - for which I have stated taking parlodel. Annoyingly if parlodel lowers my prolactin and I do get a cycle with-in that time I will not really know if it was the supplement or the pharm.
An earlier post about where to purchase it was correct. The online store in Texas is the only entity that sells to the public.
Hope this helps and good luck! I at this point do not want children but everytime I go to the endocronoligist I feel your pain.
