Has anyone tried Aminexil by kerastase? What were the results? Is it worth buying? If you don't know what I am talking about it's at: http://www.hairloss-hair.com
I am taking glucophage, saw palmetto and doing the aminexil thing. I've done it for four days and my husband already sees little shafts of hair coming up. I don't know if it's the saw palmetto or the aminexil, but I'm just happy with the results. BTW, I only started the saw palmetto last week.
It started working in a few days. I actually have inch long hairs where there were none before. I have also been taking saw palmetto, so that may also be helping.
Here's another success story: w w w . womenshairlossproject . c o m / category / aminexil (remove the spaces)
Is it like Rogaine that once you start you can never stop?
The molecule Aminexil is a Minoxidil derivate. My derm said Aminexil is the L'oreal-Minoxidil-version. I tried with NO RESULT Aminexil for 3 months (Decros SP4). L'oreal writes that you have to do 2 times x 6 weeks a year BUT I cannot imagine that this is right.
I the link that you gave the girl there had stress related hairloss so Telogen Effluvium so maybe in this case in works or maybe it would have stopped anyway (with or without Aminexil). I really think Aminexil is a big waste of money (acts like Regaine but it's more expensive).
@web_diva No results yet from your yaz/spiro combo?
Hopelina, Thanks for your reply and results on aminexil. I'm thinking about the internal version of the same thing as I can get it for $19.95/mo.:
"New European Hairloss Pill
MPB Research Newsletter July 23/2007 - New European Hairloss Pill
L'Oreal, the France based pharmaceutical giant, along with Nestle have joined forces, and formed a cosmeceutical company Inneov, and as predicted, have released an oral Taurine based hair loss treatment compound, named Hair Mass, for sale in Europe.
Due to the daunting time constraints, and financial and regulatory hoops necessary for drug approval, Inneov has cleverly stepped just short of calling Hair Mass a treatment for hair loss. But don't be misled-that's exactly what it is. It is anything but just another "Hair Vitamin."
From Inneov's site: "Innéov" Hair Mass is the first nutritional supplement designed to "energize" hair, and it contains a combination of Taurine, Zinc and Catechins. Hair Mass does much more than simply supply nutrients. It was created to work from deep within the roots to actively and continuously boost the growth of thick, dense glossy hair.
L'Oreal also had the summary abstract of a 6 month placebo controlled, double blind study on their site involving 36 women between the ages of 18-45 with "thinning" hair. Improvement was noted in 100% of the women receiving Hair Mass in only 7 weeks. All cases of thinning hair were apparently "resolved" after 6 months.
L-Taurine's benefits for hair are not gender specific, the data referenced in their patent application showed benefits for men as well. The effects of fibrosis on hair do not apparently discriminate on the basis of gender.
It is also indicated for "thinning/falling" hair on their site, yet is sold as a hair "cosmeceutical", not a hair loss treatment drug, saving the company years and millions of dollars in drug approval costs.
Of significance is the fact that research teams from two international corporate giants, Nestle and L'Oreal coordinated their efforts on this project. Nestle, in particular is investing heavily in anti-aging cosmeceutical product development and research.
We featured the original patent and its ingredients in a previous update. Hair Mass is a combination of L-Taurine (150 mg), Green Tea Extract (145mg), Zinc Gluconate (15mg), and a small amount of Grape Seed Extract. That's really all there is to it.
A one month supply of Hair Mass cost about $45.00 U.S. plus the cost of shipping from Europe. The beauty of this formula is that it can be readily put together in a much higher potency at a fraction of the cost. A combination of L-Taurine (1000 mg) Mega Green Tea Extract (795mg, 98%) and Zinc Methionine (OptiZinc), the most bio-available form of Zinc, 30 mg from the MPB Buyer's Club will cost about $19.00 a month.
Suffice to say, oral L-Taurine in sufficient doses may in itself be one the most effective and cost effective hair loss treatments to date due to its uniquely potent anti-fibrotic effects on the hair follicle matrix and pilosebaceous unit. High doses of L-Taurine are frequently used by endurance athletes and is known to benefit cardiac and liver function. Its anti-fibrotic/anti-aging effects are not limited to hair alone. There are no side effects associated with its usage at any dose. (Featured Treatment Compounds: L-Taurine Mega Green Tea Optizinc Grape Seed Extract )

Regarding Spiro and Yaz. Spiro is great for high testosterone, esp. from the adrenals!! I think I'm noticing slightly decreased sheds after only being on it 6wks. They say it takes 4-6 mos to kick in and a year+ to see full benefits (possible regrowth). I'm on 200 mg/day. My skin is clear and not greasy. Itchy scalp is gone!! Only side effect is thirst, I had no dread shed.
Shed REALLY seemed to decrease when I added iron to it (ferritin tested 29 in Feb'08 and I think it was much lower due to heavy menstruation). It went from 60-70 strands lost to 20 strands per day! Was pulled off of Yaz after 1 mo. - I'm a smoker w/ high blood pressure and the estrogen was making it sky high. I'm on the mini-pill now and it should increase SHBG and have some benefit. Here's hoping! I'm also taking selenium, MSM, a beefy multi, some adrenal cortisol regulators, and am wearing Emu oil each night. Sorry this is so long.
Do you have any regimen that seems to be helping??
Hi web_diva,
The inneov capsules are not the internal version of Aminexil as they work on total different ways but they may worth a try, just like any other multivitamines.
I am shedding pretty bad right now even though I am on Flutamide. It worked really good for a few months and now i am shedding again... I just found out yesterday that my ferritin is 18 .... it may be because of that... I took for some time iron and then my general practicioner doctor said the iron levels are fine , BUT he did not test ferritin at all.....only iron and hemoglobine....well...
I started now taking iron again and i will start yasmine too. I don't smoke and my blood preasure is always low so that I hope I won#T have any side effects... I don't belive in this multivitamines - stuff as I am eating right and organic and I am taking my vitamines from there. I bought last year emu oil, too and i only used it maybe twice as it made my hair greasy and i hated it.
