Has anyone tried "Pest control" product?

Hi everyone,
Just wondering if anyone had bought one of those pest control products that you plug in, and they're meant to get rid of spiders, cockroaches etc. They cost about $80 so I don't want to buy one until I know if they work..

If they are the ones that are supposed to alter the electro magnetic frequency of the house, in a manner which deters bugs, I have seen a couple of current affair programs on them. Apparently a normal electrical appliance changes the frequency more than one of the pest control things and they are said to be useless. Hope this helps!
