I never heard of this but it sounds promising. If you find any more info or decide to try it keep us posted!

Hey I might have read the exact same article as you!

I bought some serrapeptase because I have PCOS and Fibromyalgia and nasal issues. Serrapeptase is supposed to help with all those. I tried it only about 5 days. It gave me a stomach ache and made me feel very sick. (nausea, headache)

I talked to my naturopath about his and he said that Serrapeptase must be made to digest in the intestine not instantly in the stomach. It can be dangerous if the capsule digests in the stomach because the Serrapeptase also breaks down "mucus" which as we know is an important factor to the stomach lining. We wouldn't want to break down the mucosal lining in the stomach.

While it sounds promising - I have not pitched out more money for the enteric coated serrapeptase as I have a $50 mostly full bottle sitting in my cupboard that I can't take.

Let me know if you have had similar failures with it, or if you experience success with the kind that digests in the intestine.

hi rainbow,
sorry to hear that your not having much success wirh the serrapeptase.
i started mine about 2 weeks ago, and i noticed i have to pee very often. other than that i don't see any difference,, good nor bad. i hope its working, im going to finish the bottle and see what happens, i havnt consulted with a doctor, i just started taking them on my own after reading abt them and researching on it . i bought my bottle from ebay. for $20. im taking the vegetarian capsules, , i have pcos too.
im kinda worried now abt what you said abt the mucus and the stomach lining ,,well ,, ill keep my fingers crossed. im so fedup with this pcos, im trying anyhthing to get rid of it, even though ive been told theres no cure.

Hi Shana!

I was taking 1 capsule before bed of 60,000 I.U. of Enerex brand Serrapeptase. I just read the bottle to find out what the potency of my serrapeptase was and It says on the bottle that it IS enteric coated. Which means it should have been digesting in my intestine not in the stomach. So now realizing that they are enteric coated, I wonder why I had the nausea feelings?

What kind of capsule are your serrapeptase in? Are they in a capsule or a tablet or a soft gel? Do they say "enteric coated" if they are a capsule?

If they are not causing you side effects other than peeing - I wouldn't worry about your stomach. You'd probably be able to feel stomach discomfort if the serrapeptase was actually hurting you.

However if your stomach starts hurting you in the future consider that it may be the Serrapeptase. Serrapeptase is a strong enzyme so it definately has potential for effectiveness, but along with that comes the possibility of side effects in some people I would imagine.

If it's working for you keep taking it. I have IBS so my stomach and guts are more sensitive than the average. Serrapeptase may be just the thing for you. Good luck and keep me updated. If it works for you maybe I'll try it again sometime.

Here's some information on the claims of Serrapeptase. I have like all the issues that Serrapeptase claims to help. I wish it didn't make me feel nauseated and headachey. Maybe I'll try it again because the claims are just too good.

Because serrapeptase is destroyed by digestive juices in the stomach, it must either be taken on an empty stomach or in enteric-coated tablets.

Research in Germany and Japan has shown Serrapeptase can dissolve breast and ovarian cysts, ease symptoms of arthritis, speed the healing of torn ligaments and sports injuries, and aid post-operative healing. People with carpel tunnel syndrome or RSI, asthma, sinusitis, ear infections and migraine have also benefited from taking it.
