Hello Cysters
I have a friend who is an electrologist and she knows all about my pcos problems and knows i have to shave 2 to 3 times a day because my hair grows so fast. She had me come in to do lazer on an area on my chin and neck to see if lazer would make any difference before I wasted my money and sure enough..............
I had my first lazer treatment just over 3 weeks ago. It took about 7 days for my hair to fall out and since it did I have not had to shave that area at all. Even after I use to shave, I still had an after 5 shadow and my skin was so irritated from shaving so much. I can honestly say my skin is sooo soft not irritated and no more after 5 shadow and I have not shaved in almost 3 weeks.
If any of you are thinking of doing lazer, check with an electrologist in your area and ask them if they can do a small area on you, and explain the PCOS to them and maybe they will work with you and only charge a small amount just so you can see if it works for you. Good luck to all my Cysters.
I have my consultation for laser on Aug 4th. They said the consultation is a hour long so im going to ask if they can do a test patch first to see if it will work on my skin.
You give me HOPE though thanks! I have to shave every day and my 5 O clock shawdow is pretty dark make up will hide it a little but you can tell I think.
So you have not had to shave at all ? that is great how far are your treatments for one another ? I know mine wil be 8 weeks apart I think I will probably have to shave in between them but im hoping not.

Where does the time go!
Your treatment will burn the hair off the surface, but it will take 1 - 3 weeks to fall out or "shed" as they call it. You will have to shave during that time. Then you will almost hair free for a week or two before the new hair starts to come in. It takes 5 - 10 treatments spaced 6 - 10 weeks apart to get the majority of the hair since only about 1/4 of your hair is at the surface at once. 3 - 4 weeks after my first and second treatments, I felt like I had as much hair as I did before I had my first treatment. I am now in the 4th week after my 3rd treatment. It finally seems like less new hair is showing up and the hair that is showing up is much finer.
I love the way my skin feels during the hair free weeks and long for time when it is always like that.
The laser will not get white/gray hair and may not get fine hair even if it is dark. Some people follow laser with electrolysis to "clean up" the hair that laser did not get.
Since I had my electrologist test a small patch on my face, its been just over three weeks. The first week I did have to shave just as much as I ever did, but early into the second week all of the hair had fallen out and I have not had to shave that area once. As far as how far apart the treatments are, I was advised about 4 - 6 weeks, depending on how fast my hair grows back. I also know what your talking about with make up and the after 5 shadow, I could use 3 pounds of make up and you could still tell. But now, the patch that was done, is so soft and NO after 5 shadow. Im also hoping I don't have to shave before I go again, so far so good like I said it's been just over three weeks and I do not even have one hair there. HOOOOOORAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thought I would give you an update on my lazer treatment. It has been 2 weeks since I had lazer treatment on my full face (chin, upper lip, side burn and cheek area and neck). It took just over 1 week for the hair to fall out and I have not had to shave once. This to me is awesome since I was one who had to shave everyday, sometimes twice a day. My husband loves how my face looks and feels, that sometimes he will just come up to me and rub and kiss my face (something I would never let him do before). I think it is worth the money and yes the pain....boy some of those zaps hurt but some were not bad. If any of you are thinking of lazer treatment, it may be worth checking into. I know they say it does not work for everyone but you don't know unless you try. I never thought it would work for me. Like I said before its been two weeks, they say you should be able to go anywhere from 4 - 8 weeks between treatments. Well we will see. If any of you are going to do this I wish you luck and success. Beth I know you were going on August 4th, How did you make out?
My consultation went well, actually I ended up doing my first treatment right that day. The discomfort wasnt bad except for the upper lip that hurt a little.
I go for my second treatment on Sept 6th. Ill let eveyone know my results hoping the end of the week I will see some hair coming out.

Wow ladies, that sounds awesome. You have made me rerecharge my search of laser hair removal places. I had laser done about four years ago, but I had 6 treatments in 6 weeks, so needless to say, the hair grew back. However, now that I am armed with more info and have the hormones under control, it might be time to give another go with a new place.
What sort of laser are you having done? I had my ninth treatment yesterday and whilst theres a reduction (which im happy with) Im still shaving daily. My hormones are ok and im on diane. Im having it all over and Im so happy with the results on my back, stomach, chest and butt but my face is slower. I dream of not having to shave everyday and being comfortable with people touching my face.

Diagnosed 1996 Irregular AF - TTC IBS & Reflux Loads of damn hair Hello efexor my old friend......geez we meet again after two years apart!
Kellie...I didn't even know there were different types of lazer treatment. The paper I have for instructions says Palomar EsteLux System. I don't know if that helps or even if thats what your asking. The only place I am having it done is on my face but I would love to have it done on my stomach lover back and butt. I cant afford to do all that so for now I will just shave those areas. Good luck to you.......I hope this info helped, if now let me know.......
I am a noob on this forum and wanted to know about this option. Do you have to do this lazer treatment for the rest of your life or not? Like wil the hairs come back if my hormones are up and down? I have the same problems as the other people in this thread and want to get rid of this issue.
There are heaps of different kinds, and apparently some are more effective on different skin/hair colors. I havent heard of the one your having but I'll look into it. Im having Coolglide treatments. The technician changed the settings for the one I had on Thursday and now the there are the same as my back etc. After the first treatment I had some kind of hypersensitive reaction on my face and whilst it settled down after a day it kinda scared me. So we have slowly built back up to the initial setting and my skin is taking it well. Im hoping now I will start to see the same results on my face aswell. There is heaps less already but I would love to be achieving results like yours. I will hang in there with it but Ive already spent $6000(AUS) on this and I just want it gone!
ALL the very best to you
Kel

I've been doing laser treatments every 5 weeks since December. I had like my fifth session this morning. It really does help. Even though it hasn't completely removed the hair in all places it makes it much finer and less noticeable.
How painful is laser on the face? Specifically the space between the eyebrows. My daughter is bothered by the unibrow she has. We get it waxed, but I think something more permanent would be better. She turns 10 in September.

Lazer hair removal will only keep the hair under control but does not work for everyone. Until your PCOS is treated and under control you will have to keep going. That is the understanding I got under from my friend who is my electrologist.
Good luck to you.
