Default hashi's hypothyroid, pcos and ttc

Hi,

This is my first time posting, and am glad I found this site. I was just recently diagnosed with Hashimotos thyroiditis, and my TSH level is now around 5.15. It was 7 about a month and a half ago. I also have pcos and suffered a miscarriage last year at 12 weeks. I would like to ttc again soon. I was just written a script for 80mcg of Levothyroxene. and have not begun taking it yet. I am meeting with a naturopath next week to find out other options.

Even though my TSH level is relatively low, I've been experiencing many of the symptoms this past year, expecially since my miscarriage--lethargy, bad concentration, forgetfulness, depression, etc. I'm normally pretty active. I'm also very thin, and have put on weight for the first time in my adult life this year (that's kind of a good thing for me). Things feel really 'off' though, and my quality of life has changed rapidly.

What are anyone's suggestions or experiences on being pcos and hashis hypothyroid? I'm not ovulating right now, and I definitely have prior to my pregnancy, and was wondering if the hypothyroidism could contribute to that too.

Thanks!

Treeorchid -

First, welcome to the site. You will find many great women here, and someone has almost always been through the same thing you have at some point. I have Hashi's, PCOS, and am ttc. I would say to definitely start the thyroid meds asap. It may take them awhile to take their full effect on your symptoms. I am also seeing an endo who believes maximizing the thyroid is helpful (if not critical in ttc). The better control we have while ttc, the more likely it will be successful. Also, pregnancy increases thyroid demands. I am currently starting my 4th round of clomid, since I am not ovulating on my own. I also just started taking cytomel (T3) in addition to the synthroid (T4). Feel free to ask me any question, welcome, and best of luck to you.

Welcome! I also have Hashi's. Cheryl gave you some good advice. I started taking Synthroid and have felt a lot of my symptoms (similar to the ones you listen) diminish. I hope you can find something to help you! Best of luck to you.
