Talking hashimoto's--excited about labs--finally--sorry so long

hi all..its been a long time since i posted but i was so excited about my labs i had to tell someone that can relate.

i've known that i have a thyroid problem for almost 10 yrs..i was dx around age 18..but the hashimotos dx did not happen till about 3 yrs later..anyway i'll try to make this as short as possible..i've been up and down with my meds because i've had to go to clinics off and on in between times of insurance coverage and in my area the dr. say that the antibodies scan is very expensive and i would have to pay for it out of pocket and of course i have'nt had that kind of money so when my tsh was coming back "within normal range" i was either taken off synthroid altogether or lowered..

when the antibodies had really started screwing things up and my tsh was showing off then the dr. that i was seeing at the time (about 2 yrs) put me on a whopping 50 mcg.

in january i went to my gyn and he ran some more test and he contacted my dr. and suggested that i be raised to 100 mcg..
well he said he thought they had better just raise it to 75 mcg and see what happens in a year...well let me tell you what happens in 8 months...i got tired of feeling like crap and decided to go to a dr. and just pay out of pocket and last thursday i had some lab work done and today the dr. called me back and guess what he said.."no wonder you feel like crap. tsh normal range is .04-3.7 and your tsh level is 6.58 amd the antibodies level for normal is 0-34 and yours is 723"..that right ladies my antibodies #s are not 72 but 7hundred and 23.

i know that you are probably asking "so, why are you happy?"

well after all this time i think i've finally found someone to listen and he is "just" a physicians assistant.

he had given me a box of 88 mcg samples, 112 mcg and 125 mcg..he told me last week to take the 88 for 1 month the 112 for 3 weeks and then go to the 125 and by then i would have seen him again but today he told me to stop with the 88 and go to the 112 tomorrow for 2 weeks and then straight to the 125 and he is leaving me 8 weeks worth of 125 at the front desk for me to get tomorrow.

i knew that i was taking to little because at one time, when i had insurance, i was taking 175 mcg and i lost like over 50 lbs. in about 3 months time and did'nt do anything different but take the meds..so hopefully with the increase i will be able to lose the weight and then be able to get pregnant.

i know that God is in control of this situation because when i went to this new dr they told me they would bill me and that i could pay like $20 a month and i've called all around my area in the recent past and everyone had said cash up front..aven this particular place..

well..i'm sorry i took so long to get to my point but i just coul'nt stop once i got started..lol.

remember God is in control so keep the faith..

Default Question about your symptoms

I am going through a rough spot right now myself and I wondered if you could answer a few things for me. I also have bounced between doctors and diagnosis'. Just this past month I have had a return bout of gaught and arthritis. In june my TSH tested at 2.24 and now I have to wait to see what my results are tomorrow. Did you start to have low grade fevers and bouts of arthritic pain? I can't seem to lose weight either. I was finally able to get a doctor who is running a test on my T3 and T4 as well.

Congrats by the way! NOthing like finding some good news. I have no doubt that you will get pregnant because I did within one month of being diagnosed and on a very low dose of levoxyl. I lost the baby at 22weeks due to an incompetent cervix. But we're trying again. That was also another thing that i noticed - my periods disappeared!

Keep in touch,
Melinda
