Default Hashimoto's - Thyroid Antibodies

I have Hashimoto's and I'm on 50 mcg Synthroid daily. TSH, T4, Free T4, T3 all WNL. My antibodies are sky high! I've been TTC for 12 mos and currently am on my 3rd month of Clomid and 1st month of Metformin. The past two cycles have been unsuccessful with IUI.
Do my antibodies give me an increased risk for miscarriage? I'm scared once I finally get pg then I'll have problems.
Thanks!

I also have Hashimotos Thyroiditis and my levels were within th elimits but just barely. I don't believe the antibodies will affect a pregnancy. I am sure your doc explained why he/she put you on the synthroid, if not I will give a brief explanation my doc gave me. Basically the anti bodies will eventually kill you thyroid off and it is better to already be on Synthroid before that happens. It usually takes 5 years for it to happen is what my endo said. If you have any questions please let me know. I actually have an Endo appt on thursday the 22 so let me know any questions you have and I can ask her. I will also double check on the misscarriage question as well. Good Luck and BABYDUST!!!!

Thanks Victoria! I've been TTC for so long, I can't imagine having a miscarriage once I get pg. I get on the internet and then scare myself when I read about Hashimoto's and pregnancy. I hope your appt goes well with the endo!

Well I talked to my Endo about risks of miscarriages from Hashimotos and she said that as long as your level is down when you get pregnant and have your level monitered dring the pregnancy then it should be fine. She said as soon as you find out you are pregnant make an appt with your endo.

Uncontrolled thyroid problems not only raise the risk for spontaneous miscarriages but thyroid disorders can also mimic PCOS.
It is important that your doctor do full testing to confirm the correct diagnosis.
Make sure you speak to your doctors about this & do additional research before ttc.

My endo told me that they don't have an affect, but my RE told me that sometimes if you have the antibodies you may also have NK cells that can affect getting pregnant.
