I know those with untreated hypothyroid often complain of feeling cold all the time. That not me. I am treated and have been for 5+yrs. with synthetic replacement. Endocrinologist says my #'s are "euthyroid" (like normal) but I have times when I feel like brain is on slow-mo, find it hard to lose weight, and still never feel perfectly well energy-wise.
BUT I feel HOT...like in a temp. room that others find comfortable (perhaps low 70s), I will want to bust on the AC. Not that I like it freezing because winter weather is hard on me too, but just cooler than avg. room temp. I've taken my body temp. with digital thermometers at different times, just to see...and it's all normal temp. or below.
Does anyone else have problem like this? I feel like it doesn't add up.

Even when my hormones are within normal ranges, I often feel that I'm on the "hyper" end of the spectrum, which means I often have the sensation of being uncomfortably warm when everything is just hunky dory (room temperature, TSH/T3/T4).
I also have hypo symptoms when I'm within "normal" or "hyper" ranges. Everyone is different- you need to determine your own range of comfort.

I am hypothyroid and feel hot all the time too. I was hot before I was treated, and even now when on Synthroid. I wish I had the sensation of feeling cold like a lot of hypos!
I am so glad I found others that are hot all the time. I just had begun believing I was losing my mind. I burn up no matter where I am and I sweat profusely. It is very embarrassing when I am out and see someone I know and we stop to talk and I am drenched in sweat. Does anyone know of anything I can do to help with this?
Sonya, have you asked dr. about the sweating? It sounds like a nuisance. I get bad sweating in some areas, not really noticeable to an onlooker but I sure can tell. I know we hypothyroids have trouble with body heat regulation but the sweating/hot thing has never made sense to me. Hate it. My actual temp. is normal to low-normal every day (unless I have a fever). I am going to ask my endo. about it next time around.

My only recommendation Sonya is to wear natural fiber clothing like cotton. Sometimes I wear easy synthetics like polyester and regret it by midday because I feel the heat trapped next to me! Also, if you have long hair try wearing it up. I have short/med hair but have to put it up in the warm weather at work (teaching), because I am on my feet and moving so much and no AC. Hair on hot neck makes me crazy!

Yes maam I have talked with my doctor about it but I do not think they understand the extent of the sweating. For some reason I am never sweating when I am at the office. Just my luck lol. The doctor probably thinks I am crazy, you ever get that feeling the doctors just dont quite get it? I am glad yours isn't visible to others but I am sure it is just as annoying. Mine is very visible...to the point I literally have to wipe my face to keep the sweat from dropping in my eyes. This can happen anywhere but man oh man once it starts it doesnt stop. Let me know what your doctor says if you dont mind.
I hear you gals on the sweating. I am comfortable when it is about 60 or so. I am a cook and I was so miserable this summer in the kitchen. I am so hot and then I get a bit dizzy. It really sucks. I don't know if it is a combo of the thyroid and my hormones or what, but it sucks!!!

Sonya I'll try to find out more about excess sweating. To be honest, I am overweight and know that it plays a role with some of my sweating. But the sensation of being too warm, even in moderate temp, is prob. hormonal.

You are not alone, I am hot all the time too. I am a teacher too and it is embarrassing to be walking around the room and sweating so much I have to have a tissue with me to keep it from dripping down my face. If I do any kind of physical work or walking briskly I break out in a sweat. I also sweat when I feel my blood sugar starting to drop.
I am overweight, but have been for a long time and have never sweat as much as I do now. I feel better energy wise since I gave up caffeine in March. I have lost 40 pounds since March, but I still have hot flashes and sweat even if I am just walking for a bit of a distance or doing light house work.
I hate it, I guess I need to see my doctor about it, but my doctor doesn't have office hours past my work hours. I hate to take time off from work, it is more work to take a day off then to be there, KWIM?
Let us know what you find out. Keep cool!

Bluebug, good job on your weight loss thus far! I need to lose as well, and the key for me is going to be devoting myself to exercise again. I also know what you mean about taking a day off is a lot of trouble for a teacher. It's like doing the work even though you're not there because of the plans and notes for the substitute. Still, you NEED to see the Dr. so don't let it stop you. I have an appt. coming up in Oct and it will be midday, so I need to be out. Good luck.
