for those cysters who live in provinces that celebrate rememberance day!
Isn't it silly that across Canada some province only have 5 stat holidays while others celebrate 9 or 10?
Wouldn't one think that they would keep the same holidays across Canada?
So for those of you that are enjoying your 3 day weekend, this weekend...realize that not all our cysters are this fortunate.
I wish I got time off
So much O/T it's not even funny. Oh well, at least Monday is triple time!
Have a good one!

We remained open last year & took a day off in lieu of however this year we decided to take the Monday off.
It's strange to me having Remeberence day off. As a child in Ontario we would have the day off and then one year the government changed the rules and only government workers, banks & postal workers got the day off and the rest of the province went on as if it was a normal day.
I love that Alberta has family day...I think that was the coolest stat holiday I have had off from work. A day off to spend with your family...Brilliant!
I just watched the Sicko documentary by Michael Moore.
Did you know people in France get 5 weeks paid vacation each year and they even get an extra paid week if they get married.
They also get paid time off work if they are moving.
I'm thinking I am living in the wrong country!
Too bad my french vocabulary is limited to "Je ne parle pas francais"(sp?)
I've refused to watch Sicko so far. My DH is American and it just makes me so sad to think of his little brothers and sister down there with no health insurance.
The federal government has a week of paid leave for marriage. At least, they did until they changed the wording. Now everyone gets it since it was pretty exclusionary. It's a one time credit worth a week of leave.
We also get a week per year of family responsibility leave. We can use it if anyone in our family is sick or if we need to go to appointments with them. We have it pretty good.
Oh, and our year of maternity leave gets topped up to 95%.
Sucks that the government gives it to their employees but hasn't mandated any of it for the rest of the workforce.

It was either Sicko or I now pronounce you Chuck & Larry.
I wanted a little brain stimulation.
I thought Sicko painted a much prettier picture of the Canadian health care system than what is reality...but isn't everything in the media, tv, movies, etc. that way.
I still think 5 weeks paid vacation for everyone is a good idea.
