Default Have a question for my mom...

My mom was wondering if any of you girls would happen to know why when she takes any kind of "diet" pill it has the reverse affect on her. Instead of feeling energized and "peppy" she gets really really tired. All of the diet pills out there seem to have the same effect on her. She is taking Trim Spa now (she doesn't have PCOS) and she was taking Smart Burn (which I am taking and it makes me feel great) but both make her so tired she has been taking naps during the day. I was wondering if maybe its not the diet pills but a lack of vitamins or such, but she takes a multi, fish/flax oil combo, a vitamin b complex. She is 44 if that helps any. Any kind tips or answers or anything would be great. Thanks.

I was in a wreck on feb. 2nd and just trying to recover from that for now.

It could be that she is dehydrated. Most diet pills are a dieuretic and if your body is not getting enough water then you can become very sluggish and tired. Just a thought.

I thought that too but she swears up and down she drinks enough water (I don't know if I belive her though because I know how she is at work.) I will def. stay on her to drink more water and take better care of herself (Lord knows I have been on her about it for awhile now), but I was wondering if maybe it might be her thyroid. I just don't know.

People can have what is known as a "Paradoxial Reaction" to a medication. It's not all that uncommon, and there's even warnings on some OTC cold and allergy medications (especially for children) about this. For example, I've known someone who would get wired when she took Ny-Quil for goodness sakes! It can happen the other way around as well, where an ex-boyfriend's mother could use Sudafed as a sleeping pill as it would knock her out cold.

It may not be the issue, but it is a common one and I thought I'd let you know!
