Default Have you been diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder?

Here is some info:

Quote:
Definition
An autoimmune disorder is a condition that occurs when the immune system mistakenly attacks and destroys healthy body tissue. There are more than 80 different types of autoimmune disorders.

Q Attacking Autoimmune Diseases?
Can you offer a rundown on common autoimmune disorders and what supplements/wellness therapies may help?
A Answer (Published 10/20/2005)

Altogether there are about 80 recognized autoimmune diseases, including rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), polymyositis, autoimmune thyroiditis, type 1 (juvenile) diabetes, myasthenia gravis, scleroderma, and Sjogren's syndrome. Some other diseases, such as ulcerative colitis and multiple sclerosis, may have autoimmune components. All of these diseases develop when the immune system mistakes the body's own tissues as a threat to health and begins producing antibodies to attack them. Of the 50 million Americans who have autoimmune diseases, 75 percent are women. What distinguishes one disease from another is the target - the thyroid, in the case of Graves' disease, the pancreas in the case of juvenile diabetes, and multiple organs in lupus. You can get information on 60 specific autoimmune diseases from the American Autoimmune Related Diseases Association at (www.aarda.org).

There are about 80 autoimmune dissorders. I could not find a complete list, but this is the longest list I could find.

I checked the first choice, as I do have an autoimmune disorder, but I also have family members with autoimmune disorders as well (that wasn't a poll option).

I was diagnosed with vitiligo about 10 years ago (in high school). I am lucky as it has remained in one spot and hasn't worsened.

My father has psoriasis. He also has hypothyroidism, but I am unsure as to whether it is autoimmune or not.

I"m 99% sure I have fibromyalgia. My doctor is really great, and when I told him about this last night (he has late office hours, which rocks!) he said he'd look into finding a specialist in Tacoma area for me, since there were some over that way for fibromyalgia. I've been in pain since darn near as long as I can remember. I have chronic headaches, my sleep is a joke, and hugs hurt a lot of the time. When looking at the list of symptoms, I definitely have all of them. (Hence the hunt for a specialist!)

Edit to add, was diagnosed with fibromyalgia, so it's a yes then.

When I wasdiagnosed with PCOS, I had itially insisted my doc test me for celiac disease. When she found that white cells had gone through the roof, she though it was Inflammatory Bowel Disease, but has since corrected itself, and white blood count is now ok, as are biopsy's etc. I am curious that there may be a connection though.
