I was just given Met this week. My side effects are very minimal as I'm taking 500mg for the first week then upping it to 1000mg for week 2 and 1500 for week 3.
I was just wondering if there have been many success stories about getting pregnant on Met alone and how many of you have ovulated on Met. Also if you could tell me how long it took in your specific cases.
I was on 1750mg of met when I conceived my ds. I had been on it for year and had lost 37lbs through counting calories and exercising. This time around I've been back on met 2000mg since May and have had two ovulatory cycles in a row. Both 50 days in length. Met does work but for me it has to be combined with a proper diet. Best of luck to you!

I was on 500 mg of glucophage xr and conceived in three weeks! I couldn't believe how well it worked. I think the key is finding the right dose for you! Best of luck!

My husband and I had been trying to get pregnant for 2yrs and I was so convinced that I just wasnt going to get pregnant on my own so I went to the DOCS. He took some blood and days later told me I was insulin resistant so they put me on Met. I begin taking the drugs on August 3rd, and I found out I was pregnant on August 15th so I am here to tell you.....THE METFORMIN DOES WORK!!!! GOOD LUCK WITH EVERYTHING
Met helped me have a cycle between normal numbers 28-33 days and I was able to loose weight, I lost 55 and was working out, then after saying to myself and husband we'll just have furbabies, we now are expecting a little boy in Nov. We stopped planning on when and where and how and just had sex when we felt like it, that too helped I am sure of it!
May your dreams come true!
BTW it was a 2 year event for us, the ttc, but I only got serious about the weight and eating about 1 year ago...

I was put on Met and BC Feb. of '05. My cycles were anywhere from 60-120 days, I came off the BC in May was put on Femara 2.5 with the Met. Up until this point my progesterone levels had been no greater than .2. In May it was 37.5. I am now on a 29-34 day cycle, and ovulating every month. My sister also has PCOS, she started it in July of '04 she was pregnant by October. Even though I have not been pg yet I am so excited that I am having normal cycles.
