Have you heard of this program from Insulite Laboratories?
Hi girls! I was researching stuff on PCOS and miscarriage and I found this site...insulite laboratories....have any of you ever heard of this and what do you think....how could I find out if this is actually good and a good true company? I would love to try something to help my PCOS symptoms and health and hopefully help decrease the chance of miscarriage. Heres the info.....there's five steps to the program!
The Insulite PCOS System: All the Elements
Metabolic change cannot be achieved with a single ingredient. A comprehensive program that includes several scientifically-designed formulas is necessary to reverse Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome.
1) NUTRACEUTICALS
Our scientifically-designed formulas play a crucial role in helping to reverse your PCOS. The metabolic changes that your body requires to restore your health cannot be achieved with a single pill or ingredient.
The Insulite PCOS System features these groundbreaking formulations to put you on the path to better health:
PCOS +
An exclusive formula designed to decrease circulating testosterone levels to reverse unwanted hair growth and acne. It also increases sex hormone-binding globulin, which decreases free-floating testosterone and estrone, enhances menstrual regularity and supports liver function by aiding detoxification pathways.
INGREDIENTS
Saw Palmetto (berries) - a 5-alpha reductase inhibitor impedes testosterone conversion and reduces circulating testosterone (androgens).
Vitex Agnus Castus - Improves menstrual regularity, supports luteal phase of menstrual cycle and addresses hyperprolactinemia.
Stinging Nettle (root) - Increases sex hormone-binding globulin.
Flax Seed - Supports estrogen metabolism, which increases the production of protective estrogen metabolites and increases sex hormone-binding globulin.
Milk Thistle (seed, powdered extract) - Supports liver function (phase 1 detoxification).
SUPPLEMENT FACTS
Bottle contains: 120 caps
Serving size: 4 caps per day
Dosing recommendation: 2 caps twice per day between meals with water
Use with the InsulX, RejuvenX, and GlucX formulas
PCOS/InsulX
A carefully formulated combination of pure nutrients which naturally change the interaction of individual cell membranes with insulin. PCOS/InsulX is primarily designed to increase the number of insulin receptors on the surface of the cell. As a result, cells can accept glucose more efficiently which reduces circulating blood glucose. A decrease in blood glucose reduces the secretion of insulin - a major cause of PCOS, also known as polycystic ovaries. When insulin and glucose are balanced, the symptoms of PCOS can begin to reverse.
INGREDIENTS
Vanadium (Sulfate) - Restores blood glucose, lowers cholesterol, increases insulin sensitivity, improves glucose tolerance and metabolism, decreases body fat and reduces appetite naturally.
Chromium (GTF Niacinate) - Supports insulin binding to cells and decreases cholesterol and insulin levels. Boosts insulin response to glucose.
Alpha Lipoic Acid - Increases insulin sensitivity and lowers glucose levels. Provides antioxidant activity, scavenges free radicals, supports glucose transport and extends the functional capacity of Vitamin C, Vitamin E and Co Q 10.
Magnesium (Amino Acid Chelate) - Positively affects insulin secretion/action and improves cholesterol profile. (Lower than normal levels of Magnesium Glycinate are associated with Insulin Resistance, glucose intolerance and hyperinsulinemia.)
Zinc (Picolinate) - Lowers insulin concentration and improves insulin sensitivity.
L-Carnitine (Tartrate) - Improves insulin sensitivity.
Copper (Citrate) - Balances zinc and supports its ability to lower insulin concentration.
Calcium (Citrate/Malate) - Reduces fasting insulin levels, increases insulin sensitivity and regulates fat tissue.
Biotin USP - Involved in the manufacture and release of insulin; a cofactor required for the synthesis and oxidation of fatty acids.
Manganese (Citrate) - Reverses glucose intolerance, a deficiency associated with Diabetes.
Pancreatic Tissue - Contains specific amino acids in the correct proportions to supply growth, balance and repair factors of the pancreas.
Adrenal Tissue - Contains specific amino acids to supply growth, balance and repair factors of the adrenals.
Protease and Amylase - Improve absorption and digestion of proteins and nutrient absorption.
SUPPLEMENT FACTS
Bottle contains: 120 caps
Serving size: 4 caps per day
Dosing recommendation: 2 caps twice per day with meals
Use with the PCOS+, PCOS/RejuvenX, and PCOS/GlucX formulas
PCOS/RejuvenX
This high potency blend of herbs and antioxidants focuses on improving the vessels of the cardiovascular system as well as cellular vitality. An additional benefit is the reversal of damage to the cardiovascular system caused by PCOS (sometimes referred to as Polycystic Ovarian Disease) and Insulin Resistance. Over time, the interior lining of blood vessels are damaged when insulin levels are elevated and this damage contributes to the formation of Cardiovascular Disease. Elevated insulin also causes free radical damage and vessel injuries which are important factors in the progression of PCOS and Insulin Resistance. PCOS/RejuvenX contains high quality antioxidants designed to repair cardiovascular vessel integrity, minimize free-radical damage, prevent lifestyle-related diseases and reverse symptoms associated with elevated insulin. An additional benefit is improved immune function.
SUPPLEMENT FACTS
Bottle contains: 120 caps
Serving size: 4 caps per day
Dosing recommendation: 2 caps twice per day with meals
Use with the PCOS + ,PCOS/InsulX, and PCOS/GlucX formulas
PCOS/GlucX
PCOS/GlucX is a combination of natural fibers designed to help regulate the absorption of glucose into the blood stream while reducing cholesterol and triglycerides and to lower blood pressure and decrease insulin levels. Because high insulin levels promote PCOS, this product is essential to reducing insulin spiking thereby initiating the reversal of PCOS. Additionally, research demonstrates the benefits of high fiber intake as relates to weight loss and cardio-protective effects. PCOS/GlucX contains Fenugreek, an herb that decreases the absorption of carbohydrates into the blood stream as well as prevents insulin spikes that occur with carbohydrate intake. Fenugreek also has specific benefits for blood sugar balancing.
INGREDIENTS
Guar Gum - Decreases cholesterol, triglycerides and systolic blood pressure. Increases insulin sensitivity and regulates appetite.
Apple Pectin, Beet Powder & Oat Fiber - Slow the absorption of glucose into the blood stream which reduces insulin response.
Fenugreek - Reduces blood sugar and insulin following a meal, lowers cholesterol levels (LDL, TG and total Cholesterol), increases HDL and improves insulin response and glucose tolerance.
Milk Thistle - Diminishes fasting blood glucose, mean daily glucose and fasting insulin levels.
SUPPLEMENT FACTS
Bottle contains: 360 caps
Serving size: 12 caps per day
Dosing recommendation: 6 caps twice per day between meals with 8 ounces of water
This supplement can also be taken with meals
Use with the PCOS +, PCOS/InsulX, and PCOS/RejuvenX formulas
2) NUTRITION
"... reducing weight by as little as 7% significantly improves insulin sensitivity because when the body sheds fat, the first to go is the bad visceral fat."
- Osama Hamdy, Director of the Obesity Clinical Program, Harvard University's Joslin Diabetes Center
The step-by-step Insulite PCOS System Nutrition Plan does not count calories. Instead, it gradually directs your body to a healthy diet. In essence, it provides the solution to one of the primary causes of Insulin Resistance and excess weight and obesity - too many carbohydrates. The Nutrition Plan also addresses the addictive quality of certain foods and advocates a high-protein, low-carbohydrate diet, with lots of green vegetables and fruits. We don't have an "induction phase" where you're deprived of all carbs and are just eating protein and fat. We ask that you lower your carbohydrate intake from where you are now and slowly persevere in reducing it each week, so it doesn't feel like such a shock to your system.

3) EXERCISE
The phased Insulite PCOS Exercise Plan addresses an important element in achieving your desired weight. This is not a program designed to just "burn calories." It is carefully planned to enhance your body's ability to utilize glucose more effectively and to increase the number of insulin receptor sites on the cells' surface. Structured for simplicity, the Exercise Plan promotes a measured progression over 9 weeks until it becomes a natural part of your lifestyle.

4) ADDICTION AWARENESS
Weaning you off your addiction to carbohydrates and sugars, slowly enough to avoid withdrawal symptoms, is the goal of the Insulite PCOS Addiction Awareness Plan. The brain circuits that are stimulated by eating high carb foods/sugars are the same circuits that are affected by drugs such as alcohol, cocaine and heroin. That is why dieting is so difficult and willpower is not enough to make a permanent lifestyle change. The Insulite PCOS System gradually balances these circuits so that, in time, exercise - which also stimulates dopamine, endorphin and serotonin circuits - will become your primary source of pleasure and contentment.

5) SUPPORT
The Insulite PCOS System is based on research that proves any life-changing program is more effective when support is involved. This vital element was designed to create a cooperative, healing environment in which you can remain motivated while receiving regular information on key issues influencing your lifestyle transition. Our monthly newsletter, "Viewpoints: Healing News from Insulite Laboratories," features the latest research on excess weight and obesity, Insulin Resistance, PCOS, Metabolic Syndrome (Syndrome X), Pre-Diabetes, Cardiovascular Disease, and other related conditions, as well as medical advice and helpful lifestyle tips. You'll receive weekly email support messages on diet, nutrition, exercise, recipes and weight loss and have ongoing access to our Medical & Advisory team for all your questions and concerns. We recognize that encouragement and coaching are essential for meeting the challenges involved in changing your habits. We want to help you with every step of your healing journey.

Hello There I Take The Insulite Pills.. I Have Not Yet Seen Any Improvements. But Then Again I Sometimes Forget To Take All Of The Pills You Have To Take Like 8 Pills In One Sitting And There Different.. 6 Pills Of One Kind 2 Of Another Between Meals 2 X A Day.. And 2 Other Pills + 2 More 2 X A Day.. With Meal (i Hope U Understood) And Quite Frankly I Have A Problem Keeping Dat On Check, Because I Have A Hectic Lifestyle W/ Work.. And I Have Not Yet Started Excersizing..i Have To Find The Way.. I Have Been Eating More Sensibly..
Only Time Could Tell I Guess. But I Dont Think There Is A Miracle Drug For Pcos..
Im Interested Myself If Any Other Cyster Has Taken The Insulite Labs System.
Ive Read Testimonials From Their Website That Someone Has Gotten Pregnant Naturally After Taking The Pills I Hae Been Trying And Nothing As Of Yet. And The Weight Thing.. Its No Miracle Drug I'll Tell Ya..
Im @ Work Right Now And You Just Reminded Me That I Should Take My Pills. Im Not Good At Keeping Dat On Track. Its A Drag.
plus I wanted to add that this insulite lab system is about 100 dollars a month.. if its sucessfuly its a small price to pay. But if it doesnt work I could have really used that money on something else. I dont want to discourage anybody. im just expressing my experience.
I still have hope.. are you thinking about purchasing the system ?
I have heard of this before, but have never personally tried it. About a year ago, I thoroughly researched it. I must admit that from reading their website, it sounds great. I also think some of the things in their supplements are probably somewhat helpful...but I would never pay that kind of money. I am not a uge advocate of putting anything in my body-medicines or supplements. However, I feel most comfortable with legitimate medications that have been aproved and have been around a long time. From the few people I know who have tried this system, no one has seen significant improvement. Your best bet is a low carb diet, exercise, and metformin. You can not trust the testemonials on their site. Of course...they are going to have good ones. Supplements are not required by the FDA to meet the same specifications as medicines. THis means that you don't really know what kind of interactions these supplements will have with other medicines. I think it would be better to research each ingredient on it's own and only take the ones that would help you. Good luck and the most important thing is to research this a ton before buying anything.

Dx-2004 while ttc #2
Currently: 2000mg metformin
Not officially ttc, but not preventing!
I saw this website as well and was wondering about it. I had posted a thread a couple of days ago but did not get a response to it.
I thought the $100/month was a little steep as well since it is all supplements and vitamins. It seemed like a lot of pills as well.
I am currently getting ready to start back on Metformin.
Best of luck to you!
Tracey

Do a search on this site. There are a whole bunch of posts about it from women who have tried it. It took me awhile to read it all when I did the search. Don't think I'd try it though. To many pills and to much money. I have a hectic life to begin with and trying to remeber to take 30 pills a day is ludacris!!
If you do try it, I hope you have success with it! Make sure you keep us all updated.

A friend of mine from church is doing the insulite program. She says the difference is night an day, especially with mood and depression issues. I'm hoping to try this after I have this baby.

i say talk to you doctor about different vitamins and ingredients that they say are in there and just try yourself. like add more flax seed in your diet, or just little things like that. i like things all natural and i'm not taking any meds for my pcos, but if you are thinking about this, show your dr, and they can tell you if it will work. also if you are trying to get pregnant, pregnant, or nursing, i would avoid these. espicailly PCOS +, because it has Saw Palmetto berries which i think is bad for a male fetus. just do your research, talk to a dr, and have caution. this might sound good now, but there might be long term side effects.
good luck! let me know how it all turns out. i'd love for something great to be out there, but with pcos, i think there need to be many lifestyle changes, and meds to help manage symptoms, i don't think it just goes away . . . i wish!
I've been on Insulite since early May and I'm thrilled with the results. I've posted monthly updates on the Where are the Insulite Girls?!? thread. (check my profile to find those more easily, as the thread is REALLY long). I agree that you can't rely on the testimonials on the Insulite website, so I offer my experiencehere. These are the overall improvements I've seen:
Regular AF: This is the best improvement since I started Insulite. I have been late (probably because I missed a couple of full days of supplements), but I've never skipped. For example, I missed two days (not in a row) the week before I was supposed to start my period and I started a week late that month. The only other way my body has been able to do this in the past has been to take bcp.
Better bloodwork results: Before starting Insulite, I had high triglycerides, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, and high CRP levels (inflammation in the body). After two months on the system and using a low gi eating plan (+ no sugar, no artificial sweeteners), all of these levels are the normal range, mostly at the bottom of the scales. I'm still not happy with my cholesterol level and the ratio of HDL to LDL, but I'm working on that. The result that I'm most proud of is the CRP level, which shows that I'm gaining heart health since my body no longer needs to work so hard to keep me healthy.
Unwanted Hair: This has been going away slowly. I used to have to pluck every day or so, now it's more like once every week with fewer hairs growing in.
Acanthosis Nigracans: I'm one of those people who have this problem. The dark patches are slowly fading and the ones in my armpits are almost gone. I still have the mark around my waist, but this is fading as well.
Acne: This hasn't been as good, but my breakouts aren't nearly as bad as they once were. They're now just along and under my jaw line. I think I've turned a corner as I'm now using a topical (BenzaClin) as well as the Insulite. In the past, I was on Yasmin (bcp) and BenzaClin and never really saw improvement. I even tried Accutane at one point with little improvement.
Weight Loss: This has been very slow, but very steady. I've lost about 10.5 lbs. since beginning in May. The first month was difficult, as I was on an extended visit with my family and didn't have as much control over my diet. But since I've been home, I've noticed steady progress. I also exercise every day: yoga 3x/wk, bike ride 3x/wk, 1 hr daily walk with the dog. I'm now in the process of finding a new wardrobe, in my own closet! LOL! I never got rid of those old clothes, so I had a great morning earlier this week trying on clothes I never thought I'd fit into again.
The difficulties I've experienced:
# of pills: As many people have already commented, the number of pills to take over the course of the day is a real drag. Yes, it's difficult. I got a MedSun pill organizer so I don't forget which pills I'm supposed to take when. But I've decided that if this is what it takes to get me healthy, that's what I'm going to do. Yes, I know I could get similar or the same results from Metformin, but I want to use this as a second option rather than my first. I prefer to handle things with the least amount of intervention as possible, and given the potential long term side effects of Metformin, I decided to use Metformin if the Insulite didn't work. I don't know if people are ever able to go off Metformin, but my naturopath tells me that when I reach goal (acne clears up, weight is off, cycle is regular) I'll be weaned off the Insulite and my body will take care of the rest, provided I stick to the healthier eating and exercise plan I'm doing.
I've found that it's imperative to get all the pills in every day. If not, the progress doesn't happen. To make this possible, I take the last dosage of the day (GlucX - fiber pill+) when I get up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom. It's made a difference.
Cost: I admit that Insulite is almost prohibitive and my health insurance won't cover it. I could probably at least to it pre-tax with a Flexible Savings Account, but I would have to wait until the open enrollment period to sign up for that and I wanted to start this over the summer when I have time to dedicate to it. I've decided that I am willing to make sacrifices in other parts of my financial life in order to get healthier. If this means not going out as often or not splurging on a bauble, so be it. My health is more important to me.
I also wanted to respond to a PP:
Quote:
but if you are thinking about this, show your dr, and they can tell you if it will work.
I would agree, but make certain that your doctor is trained in complementary medicine. In my experience, many doctors are not trained in complementary medicine and some have no respect for these approaches at all. For example, if I were to go to a doctor to address my high blood pressure, more likely than not, the doctor would prescribe a med, not the 400mg of Magnesium that my GP has prescribed.
I work with both a GP and a naturopath. Since my GP does complementary medicine, I asked her first, but she said she didn't have the level of experience/expertise with PCOS to say if this program would address what I wanted, so she advised that I work with a naturopath.
My naturopath is wonderful and has been guiding me along the way. She specializes in children's and women's health and has worked with numerous PCOS patients. When I asked why I shouldn't just buy all the supplements instead of buying the program, she said that approach is actually more expensive. She's also willing to go outside of the program if I stop seeing results (especially in terms of my blood work), but so far so good. I see her for a follow up next week to discuss my latest blood panel results.
I'm sorry that this has been so long, but I wanted to get my positive story in here for you to consider as you make your decision. Feel free to PM me if you have any other questions.
Good Luck!
Nancy

Reason: add info
Thank you so much for providing a detailed update on your progress since being on the Insulite system. I am particularly interested because I just recently started on the system myself and in a week was able to lose a lb and a half with exercise as well as noticed my hair growth improving/lessening. However I developed a reaction, for example a puffed eyelid and sneezing as well as mild throat ache and had to stop. Since, I've spoken with the ND at INsulite and I am going to be starting on the system again but on a lesser dosage to see how I do and what particularly I may be reacting to. If you experienced any symptoms/side effects at all, (there are about 18 pills being taken daily after all,) I would so appreciate you sharing or e-mailing me. My e-mail address should be accessible. Thanks much.

kkaran,
I didn't have any reactions to the Insulite so I can't provide any help, unfortunately. I hope you've been able to figure out how to work this out.

I have read all the threads and articles on this Insulite, I too was skeptic of the amount of pills and the price, but I am just ready to be healthy, so if it means sacrificing a little financially for a year or two, then so be it, i also will have it paid for pre-tax with my HSA. I just got my package in monday and i have started to do the regimen. I have bought a pill organizer and a large mug for my water, I have a hectic work life, i work 60+ hours a week, but my phone alarm is a good alarm for me to take my in between pills. Its not easy taking 12 pills a day, but again, sacrifice.
I pack small snacks and my breakfast and lunch the night before i go to bed so that when i wake up in the morning i just grab my lunch and go, i eat breakfast at work. A good book to get to supplement the diet with this program is the insulin resistance diet, it has more choices and menus to choose from so you dont get bored.
Again, i have only taken the medicine a full 2 days, so havent noticed anything yet, but i am excited for some results, i have not yet tried metformin, because i want to take the most natural way to heeling, if this doesnt work then i will go that route, look forward to updates!!
anyone who has reccommendations on snacks and meals i would love to know, i think the diet is going to be my worse enemy, i exersize regularly and eat pretty healthy but not healthy enough according to the diet they reccommend.
I did the insulite program about a year ago and lost 20 lbs. and got AF for the first time in over a year. It did a great job controlling hunger and I noticed a lot more energy on just the second day taking it. I had to stop taking it because of the cost, and have been off of it for about 6 months. AFs have stopped and I'm regaining weight but not very much or quickly.
So i started my insulite on Tuesday 11/04/08, on the second day i noticed a little more energy, i wasnt going home after work every day and falling asleep this is HUGE for me, i was so tired by the end of the day around 5pm. that i would go home everyday and fall asleep for about 3 hours,
the hunger has been diminshed a little, im making better choises in what i eat, im not following the diet that come with the insulite program because the menus and food they suggest isnt cheap where i live, but im following the insulin resistence diet, lots of good suggestions, but i guess i have to say the biggest improvemenet in only 6 days on the program and i am awake 14-15 hours a day, WOW
ill update more later, by the way, ive been packing nuts and yogurt since im constantly on the go, great things to keep on hand so you dont pull into the nearest fast food joint,
