Thumbs up have you tried the new one touch ultra meter???

I had to monitor my sugar during my preganncy. I used the one touch ultra monitor. It uses a stick in your arm not your finger to do the test! It didn't hurt at all! I was so worried it would that I cried when it didn't!!! I know,,, psycho!!
My endo said that it has a reading that is closer to a blood draw than a finger stick.
I liked it a lot! It kept readings and gave averages for the week and the month. Just thought I would pass the info along!

Hehehe. I have a One Touch Ultra too and my Endo said the exact opposite. I still use my finger (only a smaller poke!) instead of my arm because we played around with it and found that my arm readings were off by like 15 points from my finger sticks compared to regular blood draws.

Besides, the arm thing left bruises all over my poor arms. I'm just one of those lucky people who bruise easy I guess.

Hi, I'm actually a Type I diabetic and have been for about 11 years.. but I thought I'd poke around in here for a bit anyway. I just got the new One Touch Ultra and I LOVE IT! so small and FAST! no more 45 seconds for a reading... 5 seconds and your DONE! love it!

Julia,

Welcome! I'm not sure why this fourm is specifically aimed at Type II diabetics. I guess because that seems to follow the whole PCOS thing, but I think that Type I's are just as welcome to be here! We all have the same thing really, even if treatment might be a little different!

Do you do shots or have an insulin pump? Since I've been pregnant I've been doing the shot thing and I just can't imagine having to do it all the time! Makes me wish my insurance would cover a pump! Acrually, I'm all for the inhaleable insulin that they are testing right now. HOw cool would that be?

Kathy
