Haven't Taken Medince For Awhile?

If you haven't took your medince for awhile like months that your suppossd to be taking should you start taking it again? Why or Why not?
I haven't took Spironolactone for months since it was prescribed really & I'm suppossed to but I didn't think it was helping with anything so I stoped taking it but now I'm wondering if I should start taking it again.
The doctor still thinks im taking it.
