Default Having difficulty getting diagnosed

First of all, hi everyone!

I was wondering if anyone else had difficulty gettin diagnosed with PCOS. My doctor is refusing to send me for tests, despite having every symptom of PCOS.

He blames everything on my weight, although i know weight loss would help reduce symptoms i'd just like to get some recognition that i have a condition,im sure you know where i'm coming from on that one!

I was just hoping for some general advice on how to deal with male doctor who are frankly clueless on a female condition.

Oh bless your heart! I know how you feel cause I've been there!
After my son was born 5 years ago I started the Depo shot. Stopped July 2003 to TTC #2. I went through infertility. Docs blamed it on Depo. About a year and a half later I was still not O'ing so my gyno gave me Clomid. No O on 50mg, but did O on 100mg. I got preggo. Had a missed m/c at 9.5 weeks and had to have a D&C. We were devistated! Then last November I took Clomid again cause I still was not O'ing and got preggo but m/c'ed at 4.6 weeks. Anyway, for at least a year (probably longer) I have been asking my gyno about PCOS because I was anovulatory, history of large cysts, mother was PCOS, mother and father are diabetic, and false +'s on OPK's. He said no, I didn't look PCOS. I even asked my family doc and 2 of his nurse practitioners and they ALL said no, I didn't look PCOS. Argh!!!!! As a matter of fact, the day before I got Met on my own (read my siggy), I had gone to my family doc with researched info from the net about PCOS without physical appearance and stuff like that. He didn't even read any of it!!!! He said I was not overweight and didn't have facial hair. I begged him to precribe me Met "just to see". He refused. I started crying because I was at my wits end. I knew in my heart that I was PCOS. By the time the nurse came in to give me my papers to take up front, I had the snubs (you know where when you breath it's all jerky). So I made up my mind to get Met on my own. I started it Jan 11th and used NPC about a week later and got AF. I was taking 1000mg and I ovulated without fertility meds Feb 13th!!!! Yay!
I wanted to tell you my story so if your doc won't listen, don't give up!!!!!!
