Question having a laprascopy and a hysteroscopy? maybe ovarian drillilng as well. any stories?

I was diagnosed with pcos approx. 2 years ago. Not much happening with my gyno, he says he can help me concieve but that is it, he can't help me with any other symptoms of PCOS. I live in a small town. He is the only gyno and there are no endocrinologists here. I wish I could find someone with more knowledge on PCOS but there just isn't anyone else here. I have been on clomid and the first couple of times the day 12 ultrasound showed that my follicles were a good size and that I should ovulate. But on my last day 12 they said they found a sac of fluid that may be blocking my tubes. Has this happened to anyone else. I have to have surgery(laparascopy, hysteroscopy, possible ovarian drilling) I have been looking on the net for information. But any stories would be great to hear. I am kinda scared about that sac of fluid and I wish i could get it over and done with now but my surgery isn't scheduled until the 3rd of February. Also ovarian drilling, has anyone had this done with positive results. I am 31 years old and I am very much wanting a baby. Any stories would be greatly appreciated and prayers are more than welcome.

Thanks for taking the time to read and respond

Shelly

Shell - you can search the forums for ovarian drilling and get back lots of results... Here's a longer thread here:
http://www.soulcysters.net/ovarian-drilling-anyone-112579/
I had ovarian drilling done in the UK while I lived there on 27 March 2006, a few weeks after being Dx with PCOS. I had gone off BCPs in June 2005, and only had two 2-week long periods in October and February (I assume those were anovulatory bleeds). I had a perfect 28 day cycle after the surgery, with Ov on CD13, then on my second cycle, got a BFP...DS was born Valentine's Day 2007, nearly a year to the date after my PCOS Dx. My cycles remained pretty regular once I stopped breasfeeding, about 31-33d with Ov on CD19-21... I got pg again on the 5th cycle TTCing, but lost my twin baby girls at 14 weeks for reasons unrelated to PCOS. I am currently TTCing again, 6th cycle trying... My cycles are still pretty regular and have settled back into OV between CD12 and CD 17.

In this particular surgery, my doc performed it lapascopically, and basically lasered all the visible cysts to get them to drain and heal/go away. It breaks the vicious hormone cycle that PCOS causes, where you never produce enough estrogen/LH/FSH to mature one good egg (I think the cysts act as androgenic agents that suppress those other hormones???). So it ended up being outpatient surgery, as I wanted to go home that night and they let me be discharged, even though they had planned for one night over to watch me. I have three tiny scars on my abdomen. One under my belly button where the laser went in, and one each on left/right sides where the doc used forceps to hold and twist my ovaries around to get at all the cysts. I HIGHLY recommend it if other methods to control PCOS haven't seemed to help you and you don't mind being cut on!

If you are a chart stalker, all of mine are linked below in the FF ticker.

Good luck! Dianna

I had a hysteroscopy done on 1/21, to remove a bunch of small scattered polyps. It was a fairly easy outpatient procedure. I had cramping that rest of the night and slightly the next day. It is six days later and I am still slightly spotting.

yeah there are several threads on the ovarian drilling that I've read. I had a laparoscopy & surgery. It helped regulate my cycles & as my hormone levels improved, so did my PCOS symptoms (I was treated by a gyno too)... I hope afterwards you pop up pg!!! :p

Hello Shell77,
I was really excited to see someone from so close to me. I am in Terrace, BC and I understand what you are going through because of the lack of a proper RE and PCOS informed doctors. I just thought I would let you know that I started going to Dr. De Bruin in Terrace and she is very informed about PCOS. Good Luck.

Hello there. I know I was pretty happy to c there were others nearby as well Thanks for the name of the Dr. I will definitely check that out. I have been trying to get my gp to refer me to someone who has more knowledge of this but I have had no luck. I will try harder now that I have a name. Thank you.
