Unhappy Having regret!

About 3 years ago I was diagnosed with PCOS and started taking the birthcontrol and Glucophage everyday like I was suppose to ......well I started wondering if I had been mis diagnosed because the only problems that I had was weight and pain in my lower abdomin and irregular periods. Well I stopped taking the medicine and shortly after that my mother died from having Gastric Bypass Surgery and since then I have put on almost 100lbs which has been a span of 2 years. Well I had just been thinking that it was caused from depression and dealing with my mothers death. Well I went to the doctor about a month ago due to I had no had a period in two months and I needed my yearly check-up. Well I basically got my butt chewed out because for one I had not gone in for my yearly in two years and for another stopping my medicine. The doctor told me that they wouldn't have told me that I had PCOS if I didn't have it. So I have been horriable to myself and now it has just made me more depressed and I can not get up the determination I need to get this weight off. I'm tired of my family telling me that I need to lose weight and that they don't want me to end up like my mother which only makes matters worse for me. Its all I can do not to stand in the middle of the world and scream to the top of my lungs.

Kristi, I am sorry for the loss of your mother. Are you receiving help for your depression? If not you might want to talk with your doctor about your depression as well as your PCOS.

The important thing is that you have gone back to the doctor. Try not to focus on what you did not do, but focus on what you are doing to get better now. Keep your doctor's appointments and follow the doctor's order. If you are uncomfortable with the doctor's information than get a second opinion. Losing weight is hard I know first hand, but we have to eat healthy and exercise to improve our health. There are some great support diet groups and buddies here at Soulcysters that you can join in and get the support to help you take care of yourself. The important thing is to take care of yourself now.

Going to the doctor was a step in the right direction. I hope that everything works out and you keep us informed. We are here to listen and help if we can.
