Default HbA1c

Hi everyone

does anyone know what the Hb1Ac levels should be for both diabetic and non-diabetic?

I am also interested in knowing the average of people with diabetes and their Hb1Ac results.

My doctors have never told me, and i'm curious as I want to review all of my blood test results from the past year.

I would be grateful if anyone has any information.

Thankyou

Anything in the 4.0-6.9 range is desireable. Mine has been in the 5.1 range since I was put on Met and I have been treating myself. When I was diagnosed in 2000, it was 8.0! Very bad!

Hope that helps.

My hba1c when I was diagnosed was 9.7. After starting Glucophage, it came in at 7.5. After 9 months of NO MEDS and a low-carb diet (Atkins), I am at 5.4

I have always been told my gp and diabetic consultant that an HbA1c of under 7 is what i should aim for. mine has been below and above this, it will be interesting to see what my next one is as none of them have ever been constant.
