Default HCG after miscarriage?

Hi there,

I had a miscarriage on 3/22 and a D&C on 3/23, and today, 4 weeks later, my HCG is still 8 and my doctor wants it to be below 5 before we can try again. Has this happened to anyone else? How logn does it take?

I'm very sorry for your loss! I would imagine one more check, and it will be under 5. In theory, it drops at a similar rate to the increases, but every situation is unique. Best wishes!

It depends on how high your levels got... but 8 at 4 weeks sounds about normal. With my first blighted ovum my levels got up to 12,000 and by 2 or 3 weeks i was still having positive preg tests.

Most docs make you wait an arbitrary amount of time to start again so it's cool yours is monitoring your levels and saying you can try again when they are below 5. Makes sense to me and you should be there soon. :-)

My levels for my chemical pregnancy took 2 weeks to go down they started at 11.

For my ectopic pregnancy my levels took 5 weeks to go down. My beta's got to be 1800.

Good luck to you

My first pregnancy the beta (when we found out) was 28... next week was 17, the week after was 5 and then never went back...

However, this pregnancy got to 1880, the following week was 325, next week... not sure, but imagine it will still be up there rather high... ARGH! I still have my pregnancy symptoms... even though I've passed everything over this last weekend. Its all VERY annoying!

Sorry for your loss!!! **HUGS** Hang in there.
