DH left yesterday. He will be home in 1 year from Afghanistan.
I'm sad, but hopeful that I will reach some personal goals while he is gone.
Our daughter (20 months) just doesn't understand where he went, so that's sad too.
I want accountability while he is away. I would really like to drop 50 pounds and get super healthy. My motivation is stronger this time than ever!

The first month is the worst. Someone told me that the day my husband left for the Persian Gulf. I didn't believe it. 4 weeks later, I was like "OK, the fog hasn't lifted yet." (I wanted one month on the dot!!) But, I have to admit, shortly after that I did get into a bit of a groove. Just stay busy, achieve the goals that you set... You've got the right outlook!!!

Best wishes to you. I work on a military base in AL so I see guys away from their families all the time and it's so sad.
I can't wait to hear that you've dropped 50+ lbs by the time he comes back. Will he be in for a treat!

Chelsae - Your family is in my thoughts. I can imagine how shocked he'll be if you lose 50lbs by the time he gets back. I hope each day brings you a little more happiness, and before you know it he'll be back with you and DD!

I feel your pain! My DH is set to leave for Iraq in October, and I am not looking forward to it! He's in CA, doing desert training right now, and it's only been a month, and I miss him so much. Good for you to set some goals and be positive. I hope the time goes quickly for you!

(((HUGS))) I can't even imagine how tough this is on you and your daughter. Just know that I will be praying for you, and that your DH has a quick and safe return home.
DH's cousin just got back from a one year tour in Iraq. We are very close to him and it was very upsetting to me (especially since I am a worrywart). He had to leave his 2 year old son, while he was in the middle of fighting for full-custody from his drug addicted wife. It was an absolute mess! Thankfully, he just safely returned home.
Again, I am praying for a safe return home for your DH, and that you and your daughter find the strength to get through the year. I just don't know if I could do it. DH is going to be going out of town for six weeks, and I have been stressed over that. I don't know what I would do if it was for a year!

Deployment is so tough. God bless you, DH, and the baby. I will pray for his safety in Afghanistan.
What a fun surprise to be all lean and sleek when he gets home, though! My major goal when DH is away is to not burn the hose down in his absence!!! Good luck with your weight loss + I hope the time passes quickly.
