Question Head Acne?

So I have acne on my head. Luckily my hair hides most of it. However, it is so itchy. And it is not cool to scratch and they pop. I know TMI. ICK. Anyway, what can you use for acne on your scalp? Has anyone dealt with this before? What do you use to help? Thank you.

Well, I was kind of hoping I wasn't the only one dealing with this. LOL, maybe I am. Was thinking about putting tea tree oil directly into my shampoo. Wonder if that would help. ???

I have had cystic acne on my scalp. I don't get them a whole lot but I did notice when I added tea tree oil to my shampoo, they dried up and went away faster. I was also using nioxin and nizoral. tea tree oil would help.

I've had a couple scalp pimples over the years ..... ouch!!

They usually feel like an extremely sore spot when I comb my hair. As painful as they are, I much prefer to pop them and get rid of them than to deal with that constant nagging pain.

I have had the same problem for a decade. I spoke to my dermatologist about it and she said that it is just simply clogged hair folicles and some people have that reaction to moisturizers in shampoo and conditioner and some styling products. She prescribed an antibiotic liquid to dab on when I do break out. It works very well and clears up the break out fast. Unfortunately, she told me that the only way to prevent the break out is to only use clarifying shampoo, to only put conditioner on the ends of my hair (if I insist on using conditioner), and to avoid styling products. No thanks, no thanks, no thanks! I still use my favorite shampoo and try to make sure that my conditioner never touches my scalp. As for the styling products...I avoid the ones that I know will cause a break out. It's trial and error.

I also have the annoying scalp pimples sometimes. Ever since I started using Peter Lamas' Chinese Herb shampoo and conditioner for my thinning hair, the scalp pimples cleared up and I haven't gotten one in a long time. Now I wish I can find something that'll work as well for my face pimples...LOL!

If you're interested in the Peter Lamas products, here's the website: www.lamasbeauty.com. All of his products are vegan and do not contain harsh chemicals. The Vitamin Cottage health food stores also carries his shampoos and they seem to be cheaper there. Another added bonus is that your hair will start looking thicker as well!

I only get head pimples from time to time - not enough to try anything other than muddling through - but there is a salycilic (sp) acid dandruff shampoo out there, I wonder if that might help? Nutragena makes it, not sure if there is a generic knock off or not. I think it's called t-sal. (My husband uses t-gel which is the coal tar formula, hopefully the t-sal smells better!!!)
