Ok maybe I'm in the wrong area, not really sure. I've noticed lately that I've been getting these weird headaches, almost like hunger headaches, but I'm not hungry for anything. I loathe medicines, so I won't take tylenol/asprin/advil till it's unbearable. But I was wondering if anyone else has had this. I'm a newbie, I have the acanthosis negricans (did I spell that right? lol) but I'm not on any meds yet (have to go for a follow up in 3 weeks). If anyone has had these headaches, do you know what causes them and how to fix it (hopefully without medication). Thanx :-)
Headaches could be from anything. Do you have allergies? Have you tested your blood sugars? Have you had any blood work done? How was your fasting blood sugar level?

Ditto -- the first thing to do when one hits is test your blood glucose and see where it's at, to see if it's related.
A trick my hubby taught me for a temporary relief. Make an L with your thumb and forefinger, then with the other hand pinch the flap of skin in between them as hard as is comfortable. That should alleviate the headache a bit for the duration of time you can pinch there. Of course, once you let go the headache is back....but it might give you a moment of respite.
Outside of that and quiet meditation or yoga I don't know of any way to help without taking something. I usually go for some Tylenol when I get a headache.
I agree with the PP's. Headaches can be caused by many things. Personally, I tend to get headaches when I need to eat. If I get one, I will eat and if it doesn't go away...I know it's something else.
I have severe allergies and type 2 diabetes. Sometimes its hard for me to tell the difference between a blood sugar drop and allergy headache. I also get a lot of sinus infections, so its real hard to tell the difference. If I have a headache and I don't have time to test my blood sugar, I usually grab a quick something to try and bring it up. If that doesn't cure the headache, then I chalk it up to an allergy/sinus headache and end up taking something or using my nasal allergy spray. If that doesn't help, then I try some caffine. HTH

I do have allergies, but it's pollen and cat dander, as far as i know the pollen count isn't high and I live in a home without pets lol. I'm still waiting on the results from my initial bloodwork, I'm technically not diagnosed with Diabetes or IR. The thing about these headaches is that they feel like hunger headaches but I'm not hungry and if I eat something they don't always get better. I dunno, could be stress. Thanks for all your advice :-)

I hope the blood work is negative for diabetes or IR. It really stinks. I am allergic to pollen...but not just trees. I am allergic to weeds, grasses, trees and every kind of pollen. I am also allergic to some foods and preservatives, and animal dander, dust mites. That's all I can remember. I am on allergy shots and have been for two years and I still get headaches. I also have to use a nasal allergy spray. I hate allergies. I'm just glad that I don't have to worry about my eyes swelling inside out when I go outside...I love my allergy shots.....Anyway, enough about that, I hope everything works out for you and I hope you aren't type 2 or IR....
