Default Headaches on Met

I've been taking Met for a few weeks now and are up to the stage of upping my dose to 3 tabs daily but are having side-effects of severe headaches - is this normal and has anyone got any ideas how to stop it - PLEASE!!

Hey there i never got the headaches but seeing as they seem to be causing you problems i would speak to your doctor about it my only other suggestion is to switch to taking your met at night so that you get the headache symptoms while you are a sweet this worked for me with nausea caused by met but i'm not sure how it would go with headaches hope you feel better soon

I get bad headaches too, but I will deal with it in the hopes that Metformin will help all of my PCOS problems.
But I think that headaches are a symptom of lactic acidosis. SO you may want to talk to your doctor.

Headaches can be thanks to low blood sugar if you don't eat enough on the drug. Have regular snacks with carb and protien every few hours to keepo your sugars stable and it will help a lot.

Take care!

Thanks for the info Christy, I also have been having headaches. I usually take met at about noon and by 6 or 7 the headache comes on.

I would be surprised if it was low blood sugar as I take the pills with my meals and the headaches come on pretty straight away and are fairly constant all day. I take one at lunch and one at dinner (and sometimes one at breakfast if I'm feeling brave but 3 a day isn't agreeing for me yet). I have to see my doctor to get a new prescription of Met soon so I'll have a talk to her (but she wasn't keen on me going on it in the first place , it was my fertility specialist who reccommended it, so I'm worried she will try to take me off and I want to give it a good try.

I get headaches too. I'm on 1500mg/day. Sometimes I can get the headache to go away with some ibuprofen or if it's super bad excedrin...but I try to stay away from excedrine b/c of the caffeine. But then again...sometimes there's no stopping it. It's almost as though my head has a mind of its own (haha no pun intended!!).

I hope you figure out your headaches!!
