Question Healthy baby after multiple miscarriages

Just wondering if there is anyone out there who has had multiple miscarriages due to the PCOS, but still conceived a healthy baby? I have had 4 miscarriages within 13 months. The longest pregnancy was 10 weeks. The RE cannot fine anything else wrong with me, except for the PCOS. I take Metformin (1000mg/twice a day), Clomid (to get me to ovulate), and progesterone suppositories once I'm pregnant. If anyone has advice, please send it my way! Thanks.

Lisa

Lisa,
I do not have the answer but I also miscarried twice before knowing I had PCOS....Now, I am on the first round of Clomid...I just wanted to ask you if you took Clomid and Met for all 4 pregnancies?

Default Sorry for your losses (mc mentioned)

If the recurrent pg losses testing has not determined any chomosomal or physical cause of the mc I would suggest some immune testing because immune issues can cause repeated losses.

Anti-phospholipid antibodies (APA), anti-nuclear antibodies (ANA), anti-thyroid antibodies (ATA), immunoglobulin panel, embryotoxicity assay (ETA), reproductive immuno-phenotype (RIP), NK activation assay (NKa), lupus anti-coagulant (LAC), activated PTT, and prothrombin time (PT).

Did you continue Met after you became pregnant? That seems to help some women carry to term.

I had one healthy pg, followed by two m/c's and then another healthy pg. I am sorry to hear of your loses. Talk to your RE about the testing mentioned above, but also about raising your met to 1500mg. I was on 1500mg when I had the 2 m/c's and then went up to 2000mg when I carried my daughter.

Also, what day of your cycle do you ovulate when you get pg? I was ovulating after day 20 when I had my m/c's. That was with clomid, 50mg and 100mg. With my daughter I took 7.5mg of Femera was ovulated earlier. My re says that I ovulated to late with the two loses and had weak eggs which resulted in the m/c's.

Best of luck to you in the future.

After 3 m/c- I carried a healthy baby boy to term. I was on 2000mg of met. Try giving your body some recoup time between m/c and if you're not already taking pre natals- start!

I have seen several women who have clotting factors that need to take a baby aspirin during the pregnancy. maybe you can check that out.

Wow! Thank you all for responding. I have had lots of testing...clotting factors, immune factors, thyroid, and I am awaiting the results of the chromosome testing (I should find out on Friday). I have talked to the doctor about trying baby aspirin and he said that wouldn't hurt either way, so maybe I will try it. I've been on PNV for 18 months...ever since we started trying.

Clarrisa...did you take Metformin 2000mg/day or twice a day? Right now I am taking Metformin 1000mg twice a day (total of 2000mg day). The first two pregnancies I ovulated late in my cycle, as you did...around day 18-20, now with the RE they give me the HCG shot to stimulate ovulation earlier once the follicle is big enough. I then ovulated around day 15-17. I will check on taking Femera...I've heard of that from other people too.

Josie...I stayed on Met the entire time I was pregnant. The RE was planning to take me off of it at 12 weeks though and I've heard some people stay on it through the whole pregnancy.

Magome....I took Clomid with my first 2 pregnancies. My GYN did not think I had PCOS b/c my blood work came back okay and I didn't fit the typical PCOS person. After the 2 miscarriages, I went to an RE and he right away told me I had it b/c of my irregular periods. I was then put on Metformin, but did not ovulate on just the Met, so Clomid was added again. My other 2 pregnancies I was on Met and Clomid. You seem to be in a similar state as me. I turned 31 yesterday and my DH is 33. Hope things go well for you with keeping your next baby.

Thanks again to all of you for responding.
