Hi Everyone!
I was wondering if any of you get heart palpitations. They cant find the reason for mine, and just basically blow it off. They have ran a basic thyroid test and said its fine.
Can PCOS cause heart palps?? It has me sooo worried.
A number of things can cause heart palpitations. Have you done any research? Your doctors should run through a list of possibilities with you. It could be hormone fluctuations, caffeine, stress, medication, mitral valve prolapse, or any other number of things. Doctors usually determine the problem through a process of elimination. Good luck!
I used to get these too, but after walking and doing yoga daily they went away after awhile.
Anyway, as IsabelleGrace was saying it could be a number of things. Some other things to consider: anemia, hypoglycemia, postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS), allergies, anxiety, etc... Do they happen after you eat food? If so this could suggest a food allergy. Do they occur when you suddenly stand up? This would suggest POTS. Of course, I'm not a physician. Please keep seeking answers from your physicians.
I hope you find an answer and don't have to suffer with this anymore. I know how annoying and frightening it can be.

I have had problems with heart palpatations as well, and at one point it was so bad, I couldn't sleep. I ended up being low on B-12, and I found out that I have the autoimmune pernicious anemia. Since getting the shots, the palpatations have been better. Also, when I first started on my thyroid medicine, I would get them, as my body has been getting used to the medicine.
I will say that as we were trying to find the source of my palpitations, my doctor ran me through all the tests-EKG, treadmill stress test (no dye), 24 hour Holter monitor, and echo cardiogram, all which came back negative. The doctor said he wouldn't push doing anything more invasive, unless I really wanted to, and the more invasive procedures involve risk. I was also extremely tired, and that's how he came up with testing my B-12 levels. I was terrified during the time I was trying to find out what was wrong. Some things you can live without, but you need your heart!
I still get the heart palpatations here and there, and they are scary. I really hope it is due to hormone flucuations.
I would see if you could either get your doctor to do testing on you, or see if he or she will refer you to a cardiologist. My PCP said he could refer me to a cardiologist, but that the cardio doctor would do the same tests he was doing.
I hope you are able to find out the cause of your palpatations.
