Default Heavy Bleeding On and OFF since May...

Since May.. I've probably bled heavily 70% of the days.

AT the end of June, my doctor found out I had PCOS.

I told her of my weightloss not working for me despite nutritionist and personal trainer... so yea. she tested for PCOS.... said I had it.

She put me on Yaz.. but refused Metformin unless I wanted to get pregnant... but we messed up and told her that hubby was sterile.. so then she KNEW we couldnt get preggo.. and she's one of these docs that doesn't do Metformin for weightloss..

So I'm on yaz for a month.. and I spotted and what she called "break through bleeding"... There was always at least something PINK coming out of me.

My next visit to her.. she said she did some reading, and she'd give me Metformin, but she'd have to code the visit as weightloss.. so now my insurance isn't paying for visits to her that she does anything metformin related..

The Yaz stops the bleeding for the first week after placebo... then I go pink... then I go blood.. then I'm clotting by the third week... 4-5 clots everytime I'd pee or bath or take my panties off..

She's switched me to yasmin.. but I'm so scared of the depression side effects..

Has anyone did anything else that has helped with their bleeding?

The BCPs just scare me.

I've switched Doctors... My new appt is December 17th... It's Dr. Allon who specializes in PCOS... so hopefully things go well...

But I just worry about the depression between now and then...

If anyone has any tips for stopping the bleeding or other brands of birth control I can call and ask for.. I'd love it.

Thanks

Brandi

I am SO sorry you've been bleeding this long. My goodness, here I was worrying about spotting for 19 days.

Has your doctor discussed Progesterone with you? Unless you have a peanut allergy, you might want to consider Prometrium for 10-14 days to stop the bleeding and build the lining back up. I was prescribed it but never took it because of the peanut allergy.

Also, things that helped me was a low-carb diet, lots of foods with high iodine in them (seaweed), lots of greens (vit K to thicken blood and stop blood loss), rest, raspberry leaf tea to tone my uterus (even the FDA has come to the table saying the tea is useful).

I wish I could reach out and give you a big hug. I know how scary this must be for you.

As for BCP, low-dose progesterone may help for the first 2 months, then a regular bcp thereafter. Just to get things regulated. I used bcp a long time ago, something called Triclan? I can't remember the spelling, but it worked very well for me and when I stopped it my cycles were unaffected.

Have you had a CBC to check your hemoglobin and hematocrit levels? You need to be sure you're not anemic from this bleeding. If you can't tolerate iron, take B-Complex in a liquid form. It boosts it right up!

Let me know what you decide.
