I work 4/5 days a week on concrete floors and I am standing and or running around like an idiot for 8 plus hours. I think my feet are starting to suffer. On my left foot, my heel will hurt like HECK if I am not on it. For example, If I am running around with my hair on fire it won't hurt, but if I stop like after I go home and sit down, when I get up I am in extreme pain. Has anyone else experianced this? TIA

I worked retail for about a million years, and I know EXACTLY what you are feeling! My best advice is to get the most supportive shoes that you can possibly wear! I had real trouble when I had to wear "dress" shoes, but when I got a job that let ne wear khakis and tennis shoes, my feet were soooooooooo much happier. I also got some gel heel inserts that helped trmendously. Try stretching, too: lean forward on your foot until the back part of your heel stretches--you'll feel it. my hubby also got my one of those heated foot massagers. It's not a foot soaker; you just put your feet on it and adjust the setting to your preference.
I have the same problem and so does my husband. I recommend arch supports for your feet. My husband and I have arch supports that we purchased from Foot eFx ( www.footefx.com) . I will say, they are expensive. We bought ours way before I saw an infomercial on another type of orthotics. I don't know how well these are, but since they are a hard material (some type of plastic) they may be just as good at a fraction of the cost (and I mean a fraction of the cost!). They can be found at www.walkfit.com
I first found out about these inserts from my cousin who worked for a podiatrist. They were a life changer for my husband. The day we bought them, we walked the whole mall for over an hour (prior to that his feet were sore from walking from the car to the mall entrance).
I tried using the inserts you get made by Dr. Scholl's, etc. they didn't do the job like having the harder insoles. Also, my feet are very close to being flat, so this makes a big difference for me. My legs, back, and feet are practically pain free.
Good luck in finding what works for you.

I would highly recommend to go to a foot doctor (podiatrist) to get your heel x-rayed. There might be a bone spur on your heel. I have one on my right heel and I was in a lot of pain until they diagnosed it and had custom orthotics made just for my feet. I faithfully wear my orthotics under the insoles of my tennis shoes and I am so happy to be out of pain. They really do work!

I would agree with Kathryn. You should see a podiatrist if you can. The custom orthodics can be very expensive. But they've helped me tremendously. I used to get heel pain all the time. When I got my orthodics and wore them for a while, the pain went away.
You should also check with you work. If they have you standing on the concrete floor for that period of time, they should have some sort of shock absorber mat for you to stand on. Im srue your back is also killing you.

I'm also guessign heel spurs and as stated before this can be detected in a x-ray. I had them in both feet. I was given 1 inj. in each heel a steroid and thats all it took for me to be completely pain free!
