Yet another new kid here! I got my diagnosis a week ago, and I'm a bit freaked out by all the changes I'm about to be forced to make in my life.
I figure it'll be good for me to join up with you ladies, as you've definitely got the information and experience I'll be needing.
Umm.....oh! I was diagnosed because I've always had irregular periods (15-50 days, usually on the long side), but over the last 5 months, my cycle shrank to ~17 days. That's what made me go in, but I've also been having dark hairs on my chin and neck, and (I think!) some hair loss on the back of my head (where a monk would have that shaved-bald-spot).
Radiologist said I had "classic" string of pearls ovaries, and my blood tests came back with 2:1 LH/FSH, and elevated testosterone. I've got an appt with an Endo in a few weeks due to suspicions of insulin resistance.
I'm not totally freaked out----I'm not TTC, and I'm not sure I'll ever want to, not a big kid person right now. So the fertility thing is less of an issue than the health problems---THOSE, I'm scared of. My GYN is wonderful, she listens and immediately said "We're testing for PCOS" the minute I described my problems. I'm on Yaz from her, but only on Day 3, so we'll see how it goes!
Any words of wisdom, my fellow cysters?
EDIT: Started spotting today again, despite being 3 days into my first Yaz pack. (Sunday starter, wasn't on the rag when I started). I only got a 10 day break this time, augh!
