Hi, my name is Patty and I joined your forum today after lurking for a while.
My story is pretty long, but I'll try to keep it as short as possible. Basically I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 15 (I'm 23 now, and thankful I knew about it early and have been able to keep it in some control). I've pretty much been on BC since then. 11 months ago I went on the patch, and decided to stop using it 2 weeks ago after reading so much negative information about it (blood clots, etc.). My husband and I recently decided we want to start trying to conceive, but I'm scared that it will be hard, since my cycles have been so abnormal for 7 years. I'm currently on Metformin and waiting for a doctor's appointment on Dec. 7th when I will discuss what the best and quickest approach will be for us to get pregnant. I've dealt with a lot of symptoms of PCOS, including high insulin levels, being overweight (about 30 lbs) and having to have laser hair removal on my face (expensive, but so worth it).
So I guess to summarize, I just want to say that I hope all the information I've gathered over the past 7 or 8 years can be helpful to people here and that I can find answers and the support I feel I need. It's nice "meeting" you all.

Welcome to SC!!!
Not sure how long you've been taking the Met but I got pregnant really fast on it x2(twice)!!
Wish I could do the laser--you're super lucky!
Thanks for the warm welcome, you guys! I've already found a ton of useful information. I know a lot about PCOS from what docs have told me, but I've never really talked with anyone who lives with it like we do.
I feel very encouraged to take more care of myself than ever and really get rid of those few extra pounds so I can concentrate on making that baby!
Hello Patty - welcome welcome welcome to the PCOS message board. I am single and not looking to get pregnant, for now at least! but I am 21, so around your age and if you ever want a chat at all, just send me a message via the website. take care of yourself and I hope that your plans to conceive will be fulfilled, good luck!

Hi there! Welcome! I was also 15 when I was dx with PCOS. I just turned 25. At 23 years old, I became pregnant. it was unplanned but very welcomed. : ) I had been on birth control pills for eight years before that. I wasn't on medication when I got pregnant. Wasn't taking anything. And I have all the good symptoms like obesity, facial hair, IR, irregular periods, etc. I am telling you this because I want you to know that it is possible for you to get pregnant. So whatever you do, don't give up hope.
