Default Hello

Hi you all I am a 23 y/o lady from the michigan area. I just recently found out I had Pcos. Me and my husband had been trying to concieve for over a year. Well to make a long story short I missed my period for 5 months and I got extra excited I mean nausea, breast tenderness. I mean I guess it was all in my head because no matter how many different brands of test I took well they were all negative... Well I went to a new doctor she ran a lot of test and finally told me that she believe I have pcos. I guess I will be running more test soon. but she said due to my history of missed periods she believes that is the issue. I will keep you all posted but I wanted to talk to some other people who had been going through the same thing or something similar. I swear it hurts because I really thought that I was pregnant and I know it sounds selfish but all my lil' 18 year old cousins are having babies and a lot of my friends have just been having abortions like its icecream and it angers me cause I'm thinking in my head I can't even have a baby and you're on your 4th abortion. and it's hard for me to cope with the fact that my insurance doesn't cover fertility specialist so only thing they want to give me is birth control to start my period I don't know I'm a little depressed. Well Thanks for letting me share..

Hi cansanford! I'm so glad you found the site. I joined recently myself. I was diagnosed in 2003 but I've had PCOS for at least 17 years. I know the feeling of getting excited only to learn you aren't pregnant and watching so many kids having babies and/or abortions. There's a lot of information and support here. Take your time so that you won't get overwhelmed and feel free to ask questions.

Good luck!

You should try to get put on metformin. I have been pregnant 4 times. My 4th (current) pregnancy is the only one that has progressed. I contribute my ability to get pregnant to metformin and weightloss. After my 3rd miscarriage, I tried clomid and femera with no success.

It is used to treat diabetes. But, is often prescribed to PCOS women because we generally have insulin resistance. Many credit it for not only helping in weightloss, but also getting them pregnant (i'm one of those that credits met for both). I'll try to find a link for you for PCOS and met.

Hi Cansanford! I can feel your pain. When I learned that I have PCOS, I really felt that my world ended too. I lost all hope of having a baby. But it's forums like this one that helps me understand what's going on. When you have the time, try to read through forums so you will also have an idea of the things that happen because of PCOS. With awareness, you will also realize that there are treatment approaches available for you. Wish you all the best and stay strong!

I know exactly how you feel. My best friend just had an abortion and Im scared that I can even have children. My doctor put me on birth control, but after 1 week of taking it I got sick and begin to hacve really bad pains. I had to stop taking the pills, so now I dont know what to do. She just keeps telling me that I need to loose weight and it will go away and I can have kids. My thing is, if it doesnt go away, can I still have children. I have gone through the symptoms of thinking Im pregnant, only to have my heart crushed when I find out that Im not. Hopefully things will get better for you!!

Thanks everyone you have been so supportive. My computer has been down so I haven't had time to write. Well I am almost done with my first pack of Birth control. Hope it isn't TMI... But it has been giving me brown spotting and nausea really bad.for the past 3 weeks. I inquired about the medicine you all recommended. Unfortunatly my insurance doesn't cover a specialist, and that could get quite expensive. So they won't prescribe me anything . I been thinking about just ordering via online. But I read the forum here so I have mixed thoughts. Do you all have any groups in michigan available? Everything is out of town I see. Well Thanks again everyone.
