Hello from a Canadian Rainbowed Cyster Hello everyone, I'm new here, although not new to PCOS. I will be 27 this month, and I was diagnosed with PCOS and insulin resistance in July of 2004, at the age of 22. I was diagnosed with type 2 Diabetes in January of 2006.
I had known something was wrong, as I stopped getting periods at the age of 16, but my family doctor kept putting me on BCPs, which would bring my period back - only to stop again the minute she had me stop taking them. In 2007, I was taken off the pill, as my blood pressure had reached dangerously high numbers, and I would get periods irregularly every 4 or 5 months, sometimes lasting up to 3 weeks.
I am legally married to my same-sex partner of over 5 years (married just over 6 months), and our lives are finally beginning to settle down. I would eventually like to become a teacher, but I am taking courses part time and working as a child care assistant in the meantime. My wife manages her family's business, a small signs, trophies and promotional products business in out medium-sized town, which she loves.
We have two "furbabies" - Smitty, a short-haired tuxedo cat, and Ruby, a long-haired tortie and white - who we absolutely love, and who are, for all intents and purposes, our children. However, we would eventually like to have babies of the human variety -preferably with in the next few years.
I have lost some weight, and in January of this year, I began to get periods again on a fairly regular basis. I am hoping this means that my chances of being able to conceive and carry a child are improving, but who knows? |
