Just a quickie post to say what a wonderful site this is... you guys give me so much hope and inspiration.
I'm 24 and recently diagnosed with PCOS, although I have had problems with depression/anxiety for about eight years. I am now in a lot of pain and have been referred to a consultant at my local hospital for another ultrasound scan. I'm trying everything... cutting down on sugars/wheat, exercise, herbal stuff and steering clear of caffeine, but still feel really rough. My Dr has just prescribed the pill at the moment for it, but it is not regulating me! Also mild hirsutism (sp.!!). So I really relate to a lot of things I'm reading here... and the advice and support from this site is fabulous.
If anyone wants a chat then I would love to hear from anyone and everyone - please pm me or reply to this post.
Hi, Claire!
Welcome!
I'm glad you now have a diagnosis so that you can work from there. Sounds like you have been suffering for awhile. I hope the pill will begin to help you out. For me, metformin along with the pill has really helped. My PCOS symptoms: overweight, hair falling out, depression, irregular periods, also diabetes and cystic ovaries. Right now I'm on metformin (1500 mg/day), prozac (40 mg/day) and Lo/Ovral (BCP).
Feel free to email/pm me if you want to, I would love to talk!
Good luck to you.

Hi! I'm new, too, and this site really helps. I just got diagnosed yesterday. I knew what I had, though, and I did extensive research on PCOS and presented it to my doctor. She was very supportive and we had a great discussion.
A few months ago I was visiting this site for the first time. I related to some of the things people said so much it made me cry. I had found a community of people who know how I feel; who have always felt deeply inside of themselves that they weren't fat and hairy and sweaty and pimply because they are inherently fat, hairy, sweaty, pimply people but because a syndrome is ravaging their naturally beautiful selves, and now they know why and are fighting back! Hurrah!
I look forward to being a member of this community!
A little about myself: I'm a senior in neuroscience and biophysics, and I hope to start my MD/PhD next year. I work as a neuroanatomy TA and as a researcher in neuroendocrinology. We study estrogens, so we talk about a lot of the stuff associated with PCOS!
Wow- thank you - it's so nice to hear from you all, and to know I'm not completely mad!! It has been a real eye-opener finding this site and all of you - thank you! It's much better knowing that all the symptoms are related as well, and to know that the symptoms can be treated as well.
