Hey everyone. I'm back. I haven't been here for a while. Things got really hectic with the advent of a new job and all that. Well, here goes. My boyfriend went to Hawaii to study for two years and I am having surgery in December. I guess many of you won't consider it surgery but...it's ovarian drilling. Things have gotten really bad and my new doctor says that that is where we need to start my treatment. I don't know if this is right but I am willing to try anything since I'm desperate. Anyway, I felt that I just needed to tell somebody how I feel. I can't tell my mom or my sister how scared I am 'cause I'm usually the strong one. I can't tell my boyfriend how I feel 'cause he might just pack up everything and come home (we need him to finish studying).
Thanks for listening......

Meds: Metformin: 1000mg/day A good bed Lots of sleep!
I had ovarian drilling done a few years ago and I was sore afterwards, but I recovered quickly. I didn't even need to fill the perscription for pain killers they gave me. Ibuprofen was enough to kill the pain.
Good luck! It really made a difference for me, I had regular periods on my own for the first time in my life!

Hi, I had ovarian drilling in Feb. 2005, and it was *my* cure, I have gotten AF every month since. It really isn't as bad as it may sound, but from what I was told, it's only temporary, but very succesful.
It's great to get AF on your own w/o meds or hormones.
Good luck to you
I had the drilling in january 2000. It wasn't too bad as far as recovery went. It did help me as I ended up becoming pregnant spontaneously (on bcp no less), It was the only pregnancy that actually culminated in a child for us which was our reason for doing it. I am relatively regular now as long as I keep my weight at a certain place.
I was terrified of having it done even tho it was laparoscopic. You have every right to be nervous if you've never had anything like that done before. What helped me was having a sister in law who had been through all of it and made me feel a little less scared.
Good luck...and (((hugs)))...We are all there with ya..

If ovarian drilling is temporary why do some risk it and have surgery ?
Is it possible that this is the only option you have ?
Roxy - why ovarian drilling?
Jen - Just my experience....I needed to have another lap done, and while the surgeon was in there, I chose for him to do the OD, as a last resort/ somewhat drastic measure, to hopefully level out AF every month, because I am very sensitive to hormones, the BCP, and any other med used to treat PCOS and endometriosis, that's why I chose to try a lifestyle change as well, ie; diet and exercise.
The ovarian drilling, the diet and exercise lifestyle change worked for me.
Ovarian drilling can only be present with so many 'holes' in each ovary, when an egg passes through each of those holes, over time, they 'close up', little by little the 'holes' disappear, and from what I was told, possibly, back to square one. Things change, our bodies change. Temporary, to me, is better than constant frustration day after day after day, year after year....KWIM?
Only time, and symptoms will tell with each of us....
I haven't had this procedure done, but I just wanted to wish you luck! If you need to vent you can pm me anytime.
Take care,
Kate

Just wanted to let you know you don't always have to be the strong one! If you're scared, talk to someone you trust . . . it'll probably mean a lot to them too. I'm also learning that the more I reach out to others for support the stronger I actually am! Had to share . . .
