Default Hello Fellow Cysters!!

Although I am new to the forum I am not "new" to PCOS. I was diagnosed 11 yrs ago at the age of 19. I have tried Metformin and Byetta and was diagnosed along the way with hypothyroid and was taking Synthroid for that. As of January I decided to stop taking all medications, it seems to be a blessing in disguise as the following month (Feb) my body seems to have jumped started my cycles which is something I have never had without meds.

I am curious as to if anyone else has had this experience???

I am looking forward to getting to know you all!

The only meds I've ever been on were bcps off and on, but my periods did regulate themselves when I got a bit older. However, even though they were regular, I found out through saliva testing that my hormones weren't AT ALL normal--I had almost no progesterone and estrogen (my levels were almost as low as my post-menopausal 56-y-o mother), and my testosterone was as high as a man's. So even if your cycles regulate, it doesn't necessarily mean your hormones are normal. Not sure why, but that was my experience!

Thanks for the input! As soon as I get insurance I will be going back for a check up to test my levels. Hopefully my body has worked itself out enough to get pregnant soon.

Shamrock,
How did you fair on the Byetta? I was so sick that I only lasted a week! My dr. moved me to Janumet but I'm not sure about it... Of course I've also got all the other meds for the high bp, high chol, depression, etc. LOL! I think I should just move the pharmacy into my house! I'm hopeful that I can find a good "fat friendly" and PCOS savy doctor soon.

In the UK they are awful. I was diagnosed at 19, told I was more likley to get cancer and given Dianette a BCP. I read the info that came with it and saw it could be dangerous to take if I did get pregnant, how it would help me was never explained so I just threw it. Since then I have had no treatment at all and have no idea how my ovaries etc are doing! It has been 11years. Going to start charting on the first day of my next period, not TTC but not dismissing the idea of having a buby, if it happens it happens just very curious to know how PCOS is affecting me internally, externally the hair issues are oh so clear.
