Default Hello i am new.

My name is Laura and i am 23 living in New Hampshire. I am married and have 2 wonderful daughters. Julia is 3 and Clarissa is 15 months. Anyways i've not prevented TTC... and have had very abnormal cycles now for a year. My ob decided to follow through with it and i have a sonohysterogram scheduled for Jan 29th and they also took blood to check my LH, FSH, and TSH.. i got news in yesterday that i have hypothyroidism my level is at 6.75.. i do not have insurance but i found a dr willing to take me i will be seen tuesday most likely for more labs and medication. I'm really sad.. this still hasn't sunk in that i may have this the rest of my life and may need to take meds the rest of my life.. how did u ladies find comfort with news like this? I guess this is why i haven't gotten pg and i'm always so run down.. and i also get the heart palpitations and muscle cramps.. feels like growing pains. Anyways we or i still think there is a good possibility of pcos but with my other hormone levels normal maybe not the nurse at the obgyn's office is saying?? but i have a lot of symptoms of it.. im hoping to find friends to talk to that are going through this too... this news couldnt have come at a worst time.. i mean im happy i know but at the same time i just found out in June of 2006 i have high risk hpv too. well thanks ladies for listening to me vent.

Laura

Sorry you have to go through this. I was diagnosed with hypothyroid first and it took a while to get diagnosed with PCOS because I didn't fit the typical description. Having hypothryoid sucks but it is easily treated and non-fatal at least. Since you don't have insurance I'll let you know that walmart sells a generic version of Synthroid for $4/bottle which will last you a month a bottle. Good luck to you.

Smile hI i AM NEW TOO

hI

I JUST WANT TO SAY THAT MY DOCTORS DID NOT BELIEVE ME FOR ABOUT 5 YEARS, THEY THOUGHT MY SYMPTOMS WERE ALL IN MY HEAD. I HAD BEEN ON THE PILL FOR YEARS, THEN WHEN I CAME OFF IT, I WOULD ONLY GET MY PERIOD EVERY 3OR 4 MONTHS, SOMETIMES EVEN LESS. mY HORMONE LEVELS WERE NEVER OUT OF WACK. I WAS NOT OVERWEIGHT, BUT I WOULD HAVE VERY PAINFUL ABDOMINAL PAIN WHICH TURNED OUT TO BE OVARIAN CYSTS. IT WAS NOT UNTIL I HAD A C SECTION THAT THEY ACTUALLY SAW MY OVARIES AND THEN THE DIAGNOSIS WAS CONFIRMED. SO JUST BECAUSE YOU ARE NOT TEXTBOOK, DOES NOT MEAN YOU DON'T HAVE IT. BY THE WAY I JUST WENT IN FOR BLOOD TESTS AND MY TSH IS LOW AS WELL. WENT IN FOR MORE BLOOD WORK, MY GUT FEELING IS THAT THERE IS A CONNECTION, THEY JUST DO NOT KNOW WHAT IT IS YET. ESPECIALLY AFTER READING SO MANY STORIES WHERE WOMEN WITH PCOS ALSO HAVE HYPOTHYROIDISM. I DID NOT KNOW WHAT THE CRAZY HEART PALPITATIONS, AND WEAK LEGS MEANT, I ALSO GET A LOT OF UNEXPLAINED LEG PAIN, JUST LIKE GROWING PAINS. STICK TO YOUR GUNS GIRL, AND IF NO ONE BELIEVES YOU, IT DOES NOT CHANGE ANYTHING BECAUSE YOU CAN STILL WATCH WHAT YOU EAT AND EXERCISE REGULARLY WHICH IS TREATMENT IN AND OF ITSELF. BEST OF LUCK
