I'm new to the forum and I'm so excited to know I'm not alone with what comes with PCOS. Here is a little about myself:
I'm 21 years old and I'm a college student working towards a degree in nursing. I'm engaged to the most wonderful man in the world and will be married on June 25th, 2009. I can't wait!
I started recognizing the symtoms of PCOS about four years ago. My periods were beginning to limit themselves to just two times a year. I used to be regular and so this sudden change was the first thing I noticed. I think started to gain about 50-60 pounds in just two years along with more facial hair, skin tags, depression, hot flashes and many other symtoms associated with PCOS.
It wasn't till I took a medical class at the college that I came across the term PCOS. As I read more about it, I was surprised how it sounded very much like what I was experiencing.
Unfornately, I haven't been offically diagnosied because I currently do not have insurance. However, at my doctor's appointment last week, I told my doctor if I should be tested and she completely agreed with me. She said it was worth looking into because she also believes I have a high possibility of having PCOS. She will do testing once I have insurance (which will kick in this May!).
For now, I just try to deal with the unwanted facial hair and the weigh gain the best I can.

Glad you joined the site and congratulations on your upcoming marriage. How exciting! I have been married for almost 2 years...and I too have one of the most wonderful men around. I was diagnosed with PCOS just last week...It's been a bit overwhelming, but I am finally glad to understand what's been going on with my body for some time now. I had no idea there was even such a thing as PCOS when we first started trying to get pregnant, but fertility problems led to bloodtests and ultra sounds and finally I was diagnosed with PCOS.
Anyway, I am sorry I don't have any great advice for you...I'm still new to all of this too, but welcome! Hopefully I see you around on the boards. =)
