I'm new here but have ben lurking around PCOS sites for about 5 years. I was diagnosed in 2002 after coming off the pill. At the time I wasn't in a relationship and things just pottered along. I then met (2003) and maried my husband (2005) and now we're in position where we both want to think about starting a family. I went and saw my doctor at Christmas and shock horror she was VERY helpful and supportive. She gave me Provera and Met. I had a period, the first one for 2 years and I have to go for blood tests today to see if I have ovulated. The Met was hard work to begin with, but then it got easier. She wants to see me again next month and I hope she is going to prescribe more Met as I am almost out.
I don't know really what I am doing, or what I expect form the next visit to the doctor. I don't know what I am going to say to her I am all over the place at the mo to be honest, I just know that all I seem to think about is children. I guess that seeing as new born neice, and a dear friend who has a new baby, and two of my closest friends are also pregnant at the moment, babies are the thing that everyone is talking about. And everyone is saying to me 'It'll be your turn next' 'When are you going to have a baby?' and it is soooo hard. Sorry I'm ranting! Take care, love Gayn x
I was told the odds were *thousands to one* I'd ever have a baby.
I went on to have 5 sons! (And only one with Clomid - all the others with no medication whatsoever!) I still have PCOS and it can be quite severe - so it's not that I suddenly became asymptomatic, then conceived. Just to offer you hope!
There can be far worse things to have, in terms of subfertility, than PCOS. When I was diagnosed, years ago, the consultant said *Oh good it's the one we can do something about!* when my results came back to confirm it was PCOS, not something else. Always remember too, you are subfertile - not infertile! It can and will happen - in its own time.
I'm sure with such a supportive GP, you'll get your wish.
Lots of luck!

Just wanted to say good luck with your baby plans. I was very lucky and fell pregnant without any medication at all. I have plenty of other PCOS problems though.
Looking forward to getting to know you
Lucy

Hi Gayn, welcome to SC.
My first baby is a Clomid baby, we did all the tests and bloods etc, but I was ovulating erratically, so got put on Clomid and it worked a treat. My second happened naturally after losing weight and eating healthily (with the intention of getting pg). So it can happen. (I also went for months at a time with no AF before Anna was born.)
Good luck with your appointment and keep us updated.
