hello. my name is lanette. im new to the this site. a little background.. i am 24. i have had irregular periods for a few years now. it all started when i gained weight .( that was around the time dh and i started dating) never knew about pcos. the doctor would tell me it was normal to miss a period here and there. boy i wish I would have asked more questions. But now, dh and i have been married 2 years and have been ttc our first since august of last year. the doctor said all was fine and not to stress over it. that we would get preggers soon. it was up until about a month ago that i went to the doctor again and asked if there were any test she could do. by then i had heard about pcos from another forum and fit some of the symptoms. she didnt really do any test. ( i went to a planned parenthood) i dont have medical insurance right now. im in the process actually of applying for it. but anyhow. i do have some of the symptoms and she looked at some things..took my weight and all that.. and told me more then likely i have pcos. she said with healthy dieting and exsercise i should be ok and get pg. im still new to all this and am trying hard to get insurance and go to a doctor that can really help me and do all the test i need to find out whats really going on. thats my story. hopefully i can get more info here and meet some people who are in the same boat.
Welcome to SC! If you have been TTC for almost a year, it's a good idea to start seeing a RE. I wish I had started my journey earlier as it has already been interrupted w/ struggles. Ask around on the board for an RE that is great w/ PCOS women.
Good luck! Let me know how it goes!! Wishing you a BFP soon

hello! thank you. by the way what is RE? sorry.. there is so much information on this site i'm still reading through everything lol. i kind of wish i would have started earlier also. after not getting pg yet had me thinking I would have not noticed the symptoms as quick. but things happen for a reason right? ill keep you updated on things. and hoping for your bfp also!!!
RE is a Reproductive Endocrinologist (think infertility specialist).
Hindsight is always 20/20. I've learned that I just have to focus on doing what is right at this moment to prepare myself for my little one.
There are many drugs that can help women now days, but it's not an exact science.
It's really beneficial to keep a journal/diary of what is going on. I record pain, bleeding, etc...everything to help find out if I'm ovulating, if I think I have cysts, etc. This can be really helpful when TTC.
