I am new here but not new to PCOS unfortunately! I have had it since I was a teen, but my doctors never called it PCOS until maybe 5 years ago. I just started metformin a couple months ago so I started searching for more info then and found this site. I really don't know why I wasn't tested for IR earlier.
I have pretty classic PCOS symptoms - I'm been fat all my life and have always regained MORE after dieting, have excessive hair growth on my face (had laser treatment recently which helped but it isn't cured), and I tend to get skin tags (had them all snipped off about a year ago and I only have slight regrowth since then). I don't ovulate except for the first 2 months coming off the pill (that's how I got my son). I'm hoping that metformin will help with some of my signs and symptoms. It has already decreased my insulin levels and is possibly helping with the hair growth. My dose was just increased to 1500 mg/day a few days ago.

Hello I am also new to this and I have been looking for something like this for a long time wish I would have knowen about it before. I have had PCOS for 12 years I think it came about when I was sixteen I was really thin and even used to run cross country track when I finished that season and went back for the next year I was fat I have dealt with weight now from that time to now. I was on the metformin and it never ever really do anything for me I am now in the process of trying to find a specialist that specialises in PCOS and I live in Wyoming I am willing to travel just about anywhere does anyone know of anyone who specializes in PCOS I to have excessive facial hair HATE IT I have to be waxed about every week have skin tags all over hate that too. Have tried for 10 years to have a child never happened I am married to a wonderful man now and would love to have a child we are adopting a baby in November but would still love to have one of my own. Finally I have found women that go through what I go through and that is great hope to talk to more of you and become more educated.
I'm new here too and pretty new to PCOS. I was diagnosed in March of this year. Do you get major acne? I'm looking for someone who has found something that works on acne. Birth Control and Erythromycin don't do much for me. I've even tried acid peels. Any suggestions?
