Default Hello! new here and have some questions

Hey!
Just wanted to introduce myself first.
My name's Chrissy and am 25 years old. Diagnosed with PCOS/Hyperinsulinemia in 1996 and think I've probably had this much, much longer.
Well, I don't have any kids, single, but have two sweet doggies, heh. Just finished school to become a medical assistant and am also a musician on the side.

Well, here's my story.

I first got my period when I was 10 and even before that I had bouts of strange hair growth on my face, that would then seem to disappear (or get lighter) and then return again, and strange sugar level issues.
My mom and her mom both had ovarian cysts and my mom still has PCOS and a whole bunch of auto-immune problems.

Anyways, I was also diagnosed with borderline lupus/mixed connective tissue disease in 1994, but as of this year I am negative for Lupus. Still gotta see a new rheumy to check on the other stuff.
Then later on, i tarted developing horrible facial hair, all over my chin, arms, everywhere. like an actual full beard. went through hell with that alone. high blood pressure, hyperinsulinemia,

So, I went on the pill after diagnosis in 1996 to regulate my periods and acne and glucophage in 1999. The pill seemed to do wonders for me. The acne all went away and the periods came normally and weren't so severe and painful and everything else seemed to get better. Until around 2004 or so, I felt it wasnt working as well and felt horrible and took a break from the pill which lead to me not being back on the pill since. and im not on the glucophage anymore either (too much diarrhea and other things). my periods oddly remained normal after this, but then i started developing all kinds of weird symptoms again.. and the hair was 10 times worse and everything else.
horrible bloating issues, tachycaradia and weird blood pressure fluctuations.. feeling worn out all the time. just feel like crap.
had a full cardiac workup and my heart is fine. trust me, heh.. and um urinalysis's are all normal and i had my last CBC in december and all was fine. thyroid normal (supposedly), sugars normal. low normal, etc.
im going in this week for a repeat CBC and ANA test.

ok, so, normally my periods come anywhere between the 14th and 22nd of each month, it seems and they're usually very heavy the first day or two and then it tapers off real fast. but, this month, its all been different and im scared.
last month, i got my period around either the 14th or 15th, i didnt put it on the calendar like i usually do. *smacks self in head* and i started getting a lot of strange water retention the first week of august and my bowel movements have been really weird, too. hardly anything but small little things and before that was all diarrhea. ive had a low grade fever for weeks now, too.

so, just this saturday, i finally had a bowel movement (very small) and then all the sudden i notice a bright gush of blood on the toilet tissue, and im like YAY! its my period. this explains everything then. but i was also having burning inside my urethra. well, i had a urinalysis just 2 days before that and they detected no blood or anything and tested for infection. nothing.
so, this is about around the time id get my period, but still.. a a few days/week early and just totally, totally different symptoms. er, well.. lack of.

ok, so.. this 'period' was really strange. it was very light and just seemed to stop and only gush out when i peed or tried to get more poop out. (sorry for the details). but this was very bright, watery, and yet thick sections as well. usually i'll get A LOT of uterine tissue and lining coming out and loads of clots right on initial flow. but it wasnt like this this time, and i wasnt having the same cramps and other things i get around my period and i usually have very intense periods. so, i started to wonder if this was indeed my period. because the whole area was covered in this bloody stuff and it just didnt seem like any period id ever had before in my life. was just way too little going on, appearance wise, flow wise and even symptom wise.
so, later that night, it became very very sticky and gooey and it was just disgusting. loads of clots, but didnt seem like tissue lining. mostly it seems to just be clots now.

now, today, i went back to the doctors to pick up a referral and it was just the med. assistants, who were just there and they ran another urinalysis on me and it showed blood, but yeah it was all over there, so of course, but everything else was negative. but is till have a low grade temp. today it was like 99.4

so i get home and have yet another very small BM (Ive been constipated or something, i guess its all coming out), and then i feel a small gush and wipe, and see there's all this massive black, thick, sticky, brownish, black stuff. no red. just black, like black oil and it smells unlike my other periods. smells kinda like poop, but very mildly. im also having a small amount of vaginal discharge (my usual, normal kind, but this never happens during my period, that im aware of). its disgusting. ive never had this before. never.
im not having any abnormal pain anywhere really, except my urethra area feels inflamed, irritated for some odd reason at times. and im peeing a lot more than usual. i feel kinda gassy, well i do have gas. backed up and stuff.

but is this type of flow normal? also, ive been noticing a lot of stuff going on with my ovaries. well, maybe its just the gas or strain, but... expeially my right ovary. thats where it used to be really bad years ago.

i havent had any of this checked since 2001.

also, for the record, i'mm currently not on any meds at all. haven't been on anything but the pill since late 2004.
though, i started taking magnesium supplements lastweek, at the advice of my doctor, because of some really strange muscle twitches and cramps all over. especially my legs.

i setup an appt. with the new gynecologist for nextweek. thats the earlier they could get. my other one, and most others have just all moved out of the state or are cities away. they've been having so many lawsuits and other things going on around here and ts hard to find anything.
i just wish they could get it earlier to see this junk.

anyone have any idea or have the same thing?

im just really freaking out.

well, gotta go now. sorry for the long rambling, lol.. and thanks!
i should have joined this place a long time ago.

-Chrissy

I'm also a newbie here and haven't yet been diagnosed, but after getting some test results and researching, I am strongly suspicious it's PCOS as it fits my symptoms and test results.

Anyway, one of my very irritating symptoms has been muscle twitches like crazy...mostly in my legs, sometimes cramps(especially at night)...cramps like I normally only got during my pregnancies or on the pill. I have some twitches in other places, incl. around my eyes. The leg twitches are driving me nuts and vary from small twitches to what feels like an ocean of waves in my lower left leg! I'm wondering if it can be a symptom of not getting enough nutrients to the muscles, assuming there is insulin resistance...but I don't know. I was searching to see if anyone else has this problem too.

I had always heard muscle problems in the legs were lack of potasium, lack of water or anxiety. Eat a banana each night before bed, drink enough water throughout the day and if niether works, do some research into anxiety related twitching and cramps.

I may be totally wrong with this, but I've been researching PCOS and insulin resistance the last couple of days so I can be prepared to show the medical folk I'm not nuts...and I came across an interesting thing regarding magnesium and insulin resistance. Apparently, magnesium is one of the nutrients which is most blocked from being absorbed when you have too much insulin in your system. My understanding of twitches and cramps is it's a balance between calcium, magnesium and potassium. Perhaps the muscles don't get enough potassium because of high insulin levels and therefore, the longer the IR goes and worse it gets, the more twitches? Just a thought...
