Good evening everyone! I'm 24 years old and I recently went to the GYN and she referred me to another GYN within the practice thinking that I had PCOS, funny thing is she asked if I ever heard of it and I said yes that when I had my first exam over 4 years ago that GYN thought I had it then but did nothing much about it and never mentioned it again. But to make a long story short, I had the ultrasound and it came back okay and I had my consultation with the second GYN and he said he's 85% sure that I have Endometriosis and also PCOS. I'm scheduled for the surgery to see if I have Endometriosis on May 9th and to tell the truth, I'm somewhat scared, haven't told none of my friends/family that because they think it is nothing.
Forgive me if I ramble, I do have a bad habit of that at times! I always have had heavy/irregular periods since I started when I was 12 but my mom said it was normal so I never thought much of it. I had horrible skin problems as long as I can remember, horrible dark skin on my neck, near my groin, on my elbows, under my arms and on my hands, went to a dermatologist and he told me it was because I was "fat" (yes he said I was "fat" kind of hard for a 12 year old to handle at the time) I never thought that my heavy, painful, irregular periods and my skin problems would go hand in hand. Now after talking with the GYN I would like to go tell that skin doctor to kiss my fat tush . I'm hoping that with this surgery they find out what is wrong with me and I will feel so much better!
So sorry from rambling like an idiot but I feel better after typing all this out. Thanks for reading my ramblings and thanks for allowing me to read all of your stories
Welcome to Soulcysters!! It's great that you finally got a diagnosis to explain all of the 'weird' stuff that had been happening to you for years! It's kind of tough when the doctors blow you off. Trust me I've had several crappy docs!
I hope the surgery finds you an answer too! hopefully it's a good answer!
Good Luck!
