Aww Sweetie don't be scared. When you go into the doctor have a list written down of all the symptoms that you can think of. It will help in case you get nervous of feel rushed. She will then probably run some blood tests and maybe an ultrasound (a quick painless test- nothing to worry about). She may or may not do a pelvic exam (if it's a gyno) Some don't bother with one when you are so young and if you haven't had sex yet. If they do the exam, it only takes a few minutes and it's not nearly as bad as it sounds. If you do have PCOS, it's not the end of the world. It's awesome that you are catching it so early so that you can get your symptoms under control sooner rather than later. Stick around here for a while read the posts and you will find lots of useful info to help you get things under control. Let us know how your tests go!

Really there is no need to be scared!! PCOS is not a death sentence, it's definitely manageable. Obviously you and your dr will find a plan of medication that will work for you, but if you want a little advice, I have some to give. He might offer you birth control pills, and while these may cover up some symptoms for a while, if you ever decide to go off of them, things will probably come back full force and possibly worse. This happened to me multiple times and to many women I've spoken with here. Metformin is a great prescription to try (as long as your bloodwork comes back okay) and it can actually help regulate things instead of mask them.

It's great your mom is supportive and taking you to the dr. Don't be afraid to ask a million questions and make sure to write things down before hand. Wishing you luck, and welcome to the board, it can be A LOT of help now that you know what's going on. Take care!
